Subject: So, they can't have a BR... or a pistol.

I do not fear death, in view of the fact that I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it. ~ Mark Twain

Let's assume this is a forerunner/precursor world, or alien world of some sort, where is the Chief going to get the ammo? Even if he has the weapons from the ship, he can't carry an infinite supply of ammo.

So, there is two conclusions, either the UNSC feature in the game, or there will be a completely new set of weapons in the game?

It is my understanding that ONI knew about this planet and that there is Navy and Marines stationed on the planet.

It would be neat exploring the Earth-like interior of the planet (forests, mountains, deserts, arctic, jungle) and finding UNSC garrisons or hidden supply drops and recon teams.

Ahh, fair, that wouldn't be too surprising. Would slightly ruin the awesome new world feel :/ And, how've you come to that conclusion?

It would be cool, I'd rather have a completely alien yet slightly earthlike world to explore!

Who's awesome? ^ this guy.

If you want an answer to your information just pm me, I'll give you some screenshots and info, but I cannot under no circumstances give it on the forums. It is under your discretion, spoiler alert.

If it really is beyond the Orion Arm, they really shouldn't. I'm taking the "leaked" info with a grain of salt.

IMO, having UNSC there for some random reason = ruining the possible awesome campaign.

Having Chief be completely alone (bar Cortana) has great character development possibilities.

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

I would love it if the idea of limited ammo was emphasized in this game, by that i hope they compensate this by making weapon damage much higher.

So if you have one clip left on that pistol, make it count!

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Easy way to do the ammo thing, Forward Unto Dawn armory (if there was on in the rear section. That and if any usable vehicles survive the crash.)

Make it a thing where Master Chief has to go back to the crash site for ammunition occasionally for his UNSC weapons.

  • 06.09.2011 10:53 AM PDT

An assassin will always carry on, even after death.

If the forward unto dawn survives impact, they'll have ammo. There will be UNSC in the planet, the Spartans from Onyx, and Halsey.

How do you know the others will be there? It was my impression all shield worlds were separate.

If the leaked info is true, then the UNSC stationed there have split into warring factions, so it won't just be the UNSC.

I actually do hope the leaks are true; it'd be a cool change of pace to have sea battles while fighting both aliens and humans.

  • 06.09.2011 11:01 AM PDT

Expanding my earlier idea... Might be a little RPGish, but what if the crashed forward unto dawn became Master Chief's base?

Like, he goes there to sleep/restock ammo/etc.

Would be cool if those Humans are descendants of the spirit of fire.

Consider this:
1.Spirit arrives on the planet.
2.Humans can't escape the planet,so they are stuck to live there
3.To be able to fight hostile Forerunner constructs they will have to modify their weapons.

That's my 2 cents for explaining the reason of UNSC forces inside the planet.

  • 06.09.2011 11:06 AM PDT

Well, Revan that'd be an awesome idea. I could accept human presence being like that more then "ONI/UNSC randomly knows about this planet and sent people."

I want Halo 3 back how it was.

I think a leak said ONI was on the planet, but operatives are at war and killing each other. It won't ruin the new world effect, as we'll be traveling the whole thing...encountering warring humans and new enemies.

The leak is on the forums somewhere.

No. This isn't Onyx. I haven't read the book, but from what I've read on Halopedia Onyx disintegrated into a trillion sentinels.

  • 06.09.2011 11:38 AM PDT

But it is very likely that this world Chief sees is in fact the one Kelly, Halsey, and other spartans are on...

Why would they make it a random shield world you explore...

The world they were on has no surface anymore...

The world they are on currently is in a micro-dyson sphere, in a slipspace bubble. Chief CANNOT reach them...

Edit: Besides, if my theory is correct, then even if this one had a portal to a micro-dyson sphere in a slipspace bubble, it wouldn't be the same one that Halsey is on.

Please don't spread that "leaked" (and probably false too) information around. None of us know nothing about the game.

What comes to Chief finding ammo, it makes as much sense as finding ammo in Halo CE. Random ammo and bodies lying on the ground with few bodies. Sure it sounds plausible at first, but if there is only one corpse, why does it have ammo? You could think th marines are wise enough to take the extra ammo with them. Besides, why wouldn't there be more casualties, Covenant can't be that pathetic. The truth is, it doesn't need to make perfect sense. As long as player don't question it too much, it's completely alright.

I could make a really stupid assumption that somewhere after the first level a UNSC ship crashlands to the whatever-that-thing-is and you get some good old marines with you to be as targets while you kill enemies. After all, Master Chief has always had a good luck.

It is possible for Chief to reach them... Where do you get the idea that it can't be entered; if chief enters the slipspace bubble then he can enter the shield world easily... And it is said that they open after imminent activation of a Halo ring (Halo 3)

That glowing circle Chief was floating toward could possibly be a portal to the dyson sphere

A: The onyx portal SEALED, if there was another way into the shield world that would be kinda stupid, as the flood could enter it by capturing another planet.
B: Why would him entering a completely separate shield world allow him to get to the one with Halsey?

  • 06.09.2011 12:00 PM PDT

I'm saying that it is very possible that what he sees at the end of the teaser is the Onyx shield world...

"Upon the powering up of the Halos, the Antechamber is always reachable by and via specific Slipstream Translocation Devices, however, the Core Room is only accessible for a short time and duration after the Halos are activated." - Halo: Ghosts of Onyx

It is very possible that the activation of the installation could make John accessible to the shield world...
