Subject: What's with the new design for Chiefs armor in Halo 4?

Frankie has stated that there will be a canonical explanation for this all. Also, it's not a jetpack, it's an EVA thrusters pack in the back plates of his armour.

I might also add that this is just a CGI trailer. It is not a representation of what is actually going to happen in the final game, it's a teaser designed to be exciting and set the tone for the game. Use your brain, the Halo 3 CGI trailer wasn't a part of Halo 3; neither was Reach's.

There's something called overreacting, it's what you're doing right now.
How am I overreacting? Can you hear the tone of my thoughts as I type? So first of all, I know that aspects of the CGI will not be in the game. So don't think you're smart for saying what everybody knows. Second, they wouldn't have some aspects in the CGI trailer if it wouldn't be in the game. Third, there can be no canonical explanation because the books clearly states that the back portion of his suit is the power core. It also explains that every time the Spartans went on space missions, they would "take" the thruster packs. Even though they were wearing armor. So obviously, the thrusters were separate. You and your ignorant self. Read a book please.

Mark 5=/=Mark 6
It is very posible they added the thrusters in the mark 6 suit.

Also

You and your ignorant

lulz

No, it isn't.

Fred, Linda, and Will all got Mark 6 as well, but they NEVER used the thrusters in GoO.

On top of that, if they had added thrusters, you'd think the technician would have mentioned it during Halo 2, when he was giving you the run down of the armor. Guess he was just drunk.

Bottom line, there is no canonical source that supports the claim that Mark 6 has built in thrusters.

Aside from all this, Chief is not wearing the same armor from Halo 3. That's a fact. Whether there are new components added on top of the base Mk. 6, or a new suit completely doesn't matter.

don't understand why we are even discussing this. things were always going to change, things evolve, why aren't we complaining that his armour in Halo I didn't look anything like the armour in Halo 3 for example? because it was all low resolution and low poly, its the exact same thing now. the Halo universe has moved on a bit since Halo 3, new things have been incorporated into the universe. also this is 343 Industries, not Bungie, maybe they want to add their own creative flare to these sorts of things rather than just 'clone' the work Bungie have done!

to be honest I personally prefer the new look of the armour, it looks a lot bulkier, which is what I always thought MJOLNIR would look like. give 343 a break, let them try to breathe some new life into the franchise and we'll discuss it when its a reality, when we see what changes they make?

What? No. The reason his armour in Halo CE doesn't look like his armour in Halo 3 is because he upgraded from Mark V to Mark VI, not because of increased polygons.

Thus he came alone to Angband's gates, and he sounded his horn, and smote once more upon the brazen doors, and challenged Morgoth to come forth in single combat. And Morgoth came.

I kind of want to reemphasize this. The 2 Halo 3 CGI trailers each had chief in different colors, and those were 9 months before Halo 3 came out. Right now we're about 16 months out and who knows the list of changes they could have.
