Subject: Reach Army Rangers and their AR model in CEA?

If you can read this, that means I'm not a Shaolin monk...

yet.

Also includes the Reach hog and the Reach grunties.

Did someone press the "Port models from Halo: Reach" button?

If the trailers are true, it's basically the CE campaign with updated graphics and a lot of ported models from Reach. I am aware of the "Classic Mode" button, but I believe all of us already possess that. It's called Halo: Combat Evolved.

The Reach hog is the same as the other hogs in the Halo games as far as I'm aware.

And the Army troopers don't have the same uniform color than the troopers in the trailer.

Army

Marines
One is brown, The other is white. That dead guy on the wall in halo reaches first part is a marine. So yes. They did press that button.

There is still 5 months left of development. That allows for absolute content polish and technical perfection - I highly suspect that the Halo: Reach Army Trooper assets will be replaced with more accurate art.

The Troopers are probably just placeholders. Also, the models aren't the same. In the preview, I saw a Major Elite with the normal minor armor, (like what you would have seen in Halo CE), and a Grunt Major with normal grunt armor, instead of the weird double-prong armor. Also, Jackals are left handed again, instead of right handed like they were in Reach.

Walk softly, and carry a big midget.

I'm hoping that the video was filmed from an older version of the game. Maybe they were just using Halo Reach models as placeholders? The Chief didn't look very good either.

If they change the colours to green and brown, I will be very happy.

This. If there is any one thing that Reach actually did right it would be the character models.

Reach Army Troopers are my favorite (lookwise) marines I've ever seen offered. I feel they look very realistic.

And then the fighting started....

Those are actually army soldiers in the Anniversary picture this is what a Reach marine looks like. They will probably change the models before the release date.

Although they didn't have a visor in CE. It would make more sense to use the Reach models with the Green Eye piece. Similar to that of the ones in CE.

I wouldn't be surprised if they left the character models for marines as is.

Basically the only place you encounter Marines in Reach is during the Pillar of Autumn level, because they're all marines deployed from the Autumn herself.

So pretty much every single trooper in the last level is a marine, while every other trooper in the game is army.

Then what is the dead guy hanging on the wall in WC?

I said practically none.

And I have no idea. The only marines I remember ever seeing are the marines from The Savannah on The Long Night of Solace and the marines near the end of The Pillar of Autumn.

I'd consider the live troopers you see fighting in the boneyard section of the Pillar of Autumn level to be marines as well despite having the army trooper skin. They're the only soldiers in the entire game to actually verbally address themselves as being marines.

Oh ok, I did not see that.

Army Special Forces.

Since they are using skins from Reach I wonder if we will still have all those Sgt Johnson clones running around.

Helping out the 7th column community with reasonable posts since '07.

Yes, they are using the models from Reach into the game when using the updated graphics mode.

Also may I add that the Marines aren't Army Rangers.

You've pretty much nailed it on that one. It's just a high-def port that doesn't bring anything new to the table.
