i came to this conclusion by One thing. The beastarium (that h3 limited edition thingy).to the best of my understanding, it was written by 04-343. In it it explicitly states that
"-blam!- sapiens are largely unchanged physiologically in the last[100,000 years] but they have managed a remarkably quick evolution from hunter-gatherer" blah blah blah. basically the monitor had knowledge of -blam!- sapiens from 100,000 yrs ago.(i think that is how long ago the forerunner flood war was, but i didn't fact check on that). Chakas and riser just seem convenient to get that .

If you try to kill me. . . you will kill me.

I think it's Nanny-state-larious that Bungie blammed the first part of homosapiens.

Riser isn't a member of -blam!- sapiens, though. Also, the presence of our species in the Bestiarum doesn't mean any species of human had visited the ring. The species of the Covenant are in the Bestiarum, yet they never visited Installation 04 before 2552.

As soon as I read Cryptum I came up with the theory that Chakas was present during the firing of Inst. 04. It explains why Spark seems to think he's met the Chief before and why he says "last time" and what not. Basically I think Chakas fired that particular Halo.

Do not panic, or you will fail.

I thought Bornsteller, in the form of the Didact, originally fired Halo.

Yeah, but Spark wouldn't mistake the Chief for a Forerunner. I think it's more likely that he mistook the Chief for another human, Chakas being the most likely candidate. It's just my thoughts and I'm sure we'll find out in the next two books.

Just throwing this out there, but Bornstellar went through a mutation that turned him into a warrior class being, and Master Chief is also kind of like that. I know it's weird, but that might make a little sense.
