Subject: Willing to bet Chief's new Armor is Mark VII

Frankie said in an interview that there are canonical reasons for John's new armor look that will be explained at the beginning of Halo 4.

I'm willing to bet it's actually the MJOLNIR MARK VII prototype Dr. Halsey was illustrating and talking about in her diary from the LE Edition of Reach and is stored somewhere on the Forward Unto Dawn's wreakage somewhere. Perhaps John was supposed to use it but there ended up not being enough time? IDK. What do you guys think?

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

I don't think so, the Mark VII was just an idea that Halsey would have probably done in the future, but with the Fall of Reach, the blueprints probably got lost, not to mention, Halsey would be the only one able to produce it and she is trapped inside the Micro Dyson Sphere.

True that. Her diary WAS made to look like it was lost in the rubble on Reach after the glassing anyhow.

It just makes me wonder why his armor looks so much different from Mark VI and what 343's excuse will be for it.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

It's just a teaser, I don't think the armor will look like it in the final game.

  • 06.09.2011 10:42 PM PDT

I think Frankie means the "damage" done to his armor. And its a CGI trailer, so im pretty sure chief didnt magically morph his armor in cryosleep.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

He obviously activated his battlizer armor mode.

No matter what 343 cooks up, it's BS. If Mark VII were on the Forward Unto Dawn, the Chief would have worn it while on the Ark. He couldn't wake up from cryo and put it on because:

1. Mark VI only has 90 minutes of reserve oxygen. Traversing a ship that has no power would take time.

2. Where and why would be change into it in the vacuum of space?

This could be 343s first big mistake. And you can say blah blah it's on a CG trailer it doesn't mean much. Well the 2006 CG trailer had things that made it into the game. The bubble shield made it into the final game, as did weapon placement on the armor.

By weapon placement you mean what? Having an Assault Rifle on your back? if so, this has been stated ever since the books came out.

Wasn't the scratch that was on his Mark VI visible on his new look?

The lack of reserve oxygen wouldn't matter, he was in Cryogenic sleep. You do have a point with how he couldn't have changed armor while sleeping.

Did you guys ever think that MC is the one who rescues Halsey and the other spartans from the shield world?...this would explain how he would get the armor from her and would finally put a rest to the question.. "WTF HAPPENED TO HALSEY AND THE SPARTANS? ARE THEY GONNA BE STUCK FOREVER?". The planet at the end of halo 3 is probably the shield world also known as a "Micro Dyson Sphere"

Access to Shield Worlds was only possible upon the imminent activation of the Halo Array...which didn't happen till the end of halo 3, which means the end of the battle of onyx happened at the same time as the end of halo 3. Coincidence? I think not.

I'm willing to bet that it's MJOLNIR Mk. VI with Forerunner modifications.

now i know MC is baddass and all, but accessing a alternate dimension that only access point was vaporized by a nuke. is a bit outside his badassery.

halsey and the rest of them are trapped inside a dyson sphere, it's a space that only exist inside subspace(a separate plane of space outside normal space.), and the portal entrance into the dyson sphere was ground zero of a nuke set off by a spartan 2-kurt 051

Nuclear Warhead = decimation.

I'd say a Chief-only Dyson Sphere rescue run is unlikely.
If that IS Mk.VII, which I don't think it would be, there would be no way for Halsey to field-develop it, it would not be Forerunner-enhanced (it would look Forerunner-y if it was), and it wouldn't be put on in John's sleep.

So, I don't think it's Mk.VII. I think it's just Mk.VI with bits and bobs changed on it during some period of time in between Halo 3 and Halo 4. Cortana would probably wake John on the discovery of ANY threat, so there is a possibility that he could have had mini-wakeups in between Halo 3 and Halo 4. And, there is military hardware aboard, so I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to alter the MK.VI's appearance. If it was difficult to do, the 3rd-party 'ports' that was Halo 3 multiplayer Armour wouldn't have been developed.

Walk softly, and carry a big midget.

While I believe it's Mark VII too, maybe 343 were just showing what we'd get further ahead in the game? They needed to show that Halo 4 carried on from where Halo 3 ended and they needed to show something new (New weapons/armour) so they put them both into one trailer.

Why would anyone think he has a new suit on.. HOW could he when he was in sleep the whole time! xD
Maybe he'll get one, but only AFTER he's arrived onto the shield world.

MC's armor changed a bit from h2 to h3. I bet people said even then that it's the new mjonlnir. Anyway I think that it's the same armor with just some few visual changes due to the fact that h3 graphics aren't the top notch anymore. Just deal with it, who cares.

  • 06.10.2011 8:28 AM PDT

This is Sparta!!! eh I mean Reach ^^

exactly. the armor shown in the trailer might be available later in the campaign, IF the the unknown planet is really ONYX where Dr. Halsey and a handful of other Spartans are still trapped.
So Dr. Halsey might have the opportunity to create new suits with the help of forerunner technology.
But i would say let's just wait until we have ingame pictures and videos of Halo 4 ^^

First up, the teaser was a teaser. It was showing off the fact that MC was back and he is going to be wearing some new armour in Halo 4. The teaser was not canon, and I can almost guarantee the game won't start out like that.

I'm saying that it is the MK VII. Look at my Coup background. It looks absolutely nothing like the MK VI. While some changes are expected between games, nothing this drastic.

I'd rather it just be Mark VI but with better modeling. Halo 3's Mjolnir Mark VI sucked, so I'd it to have the chance to look better.

That being said, I don't know if the UNSC remnants will try developing Spartan IVs, but if they did, then Mark VI should be saved only for them.
