Suck it Red!

Just wondering if someone actually did it without any glitches/hacks/etc. I'm sure someone out there has but how long did it take you and how many broken controllers lol?

This is a Reach account that I created the day they announced his name in a bnet weekly update. Any stats regarding ODST or Halo 3 are irrelevant. Also, Halo CE master race. Halo 1 > other halo games > other games.

Account Status: Silver :(

It took me a couple hours. I loved that level, although it was frustrating at times. It's not that hard though.

The Library isn't really all that hard. I can usually make it through the first two floors with 0-2 deaths on casual playthroughs. Floors 3 and 4 are a little less deterministic, but it's not too difficult once you get the hang of it.

You need to learn to dance with the Flood. Don't fight them as if they were covies.

I only had real trouble with the parts that you had to stay-put and wait...on most of them I just ran off and let the Flood come to me, but then the doors start closing behind you. Ugh.

And the very last run to get the index made me livid...this was recent, too. On Heroic :(

Non Nobis Nascimur - We are not born for ourselves.

I find that to be one of the easiest levels, actually. Find shotgun, camp, kill, move on, repeat. That's all you have to do.

Pick either side to defend from, and occasionally pop out and use grenades where the Flood are pouring in from the pipes. Keep that shotgun firing. Don't be afraid to blast popcorn if you have to in order to regain some shield.

Probably the hardest part of the level.

Pretty much. I went back and did it a few weeks ago and I was surprised at how easy it was compared to how I remembered it.

no. nonono

I barely completed it on heroic.

Cheat? Who cheats the Halo 1 campaign? Blasphemers! I completed the Library on Legendary without any sort of cheating. Didn't have any more problems during this mission than I do facing Elites and Wraiths. In fact, jumping over Rockets flying towards me while being swarmed by a dozen Combat Forms with Assault Rifles and Shotguns is probably easier than facing down Spec Ops Elites in Keyes.

And plasma pistols. They can be fired really fast in Halo CE and can even be better than shotguns.

Oh, man. You know you have too much time on your hands when you could fire the Halo 1 Plasma Pistol as fast as the Halo 1 Jackals on Legendary. Those things know what suppressive fire is. xD

Haha so true. thanks for the tips guys. Still not looking forward to how angry I'm gonna get when I keep dying in the Library

I have. The flood you face all level is divided in groups that just seem continuous. You just gotta find a corner (Tons of them everywhere) and shotgun all the flood as they charge around to get you. Repeat in each new area where the flood come.

I actually find it to be easier than most if not all the other levels on Legendary.

It honestly isn't that hard. And neither is The Library itself. I go through the level on Legendary in an average 20 min, give or take. And the Flood die a LOT easier than the Covenant do. I can't wait to play the Library in CEA.

And if anything, the level I couldn't stand was Keyes. On the Truth And Reconciliation wasn't bad, but being down on the ground was aggravating.

  • 06.12.2011 11:10 PM PDT

HEY!! There's the enemy! Can I shoot it??

I've done it... All you really need is a shottie full of ammo, plasma pistol as a secondary, lots of grenades, and patience. Doing this isn't like normal, you don't go running and blasting everything that moves unless you want to spend the next 15 hours starting from the same checkpoint.

Apart from that, if you know the level layout well, there isn't much that can possible go wrong... except when you forget to reload and next thing there's 500 combat forms in your face trying to kill you... that just sucks...

That's kinda like doing PoA in Reach on Mythic difficulty... basically it's left up to luck on where the enemies are spawned...

Except that you don't start from the beginning of the mission if you die...
