Racking up the 20k Reach credits!
I have read that Frankie released a statement saying that RE-WRITING the Halo CE NetCode would have been a hard and long process.
From their point of view, it was either;
redo the netcode, and (im guessing) add months to the release date, along with time for remaking all the CE maps, and creating an online enviroment that wont get whined about because of the pistol.
OR
Ship seven re-made classic maps onto Halo: Reach so, MOST people who really really want to play the old maps can, albeit not in the same way, but its called compromise, AND THEN cut off a very long development process for CE multiplayer and still release a much wanted campaign.
They simply do not want to make us wait for something rumoured and wanted for such a very very long time, I'd say 5 years easily since halo 3's launch. Take into account, Halo 4 is coming out within 12 months of the current CE anniversary remake, and its just bad business for two halo games to be released in rapid succession, people would just explode if they got TWO halo games one after the other.
In my opinion, as a 10 year halo veteran racking up months in playtime mostly from pre-halo 3 games, I am Really Really looking forward to just a CE remake. So much so I have just bought an old copy of CE just so I can brush up on my skills.
Most of the whining from people on this forum is justified, nearly everyone wants a CE multiplayer experience, but they fail to realise the compromise 343 has had to make.
I am not a large fan of reach as I feel it has lost the halo feeling completely, but am happy to put in my disk, get on some customs with as near CE settings I can get, and play around with my buds on the old maps.
To be honest, if you think 343 are in it for the money then that is fine. But we all know really, the devs there are real people, who themselves spent the last ten years jaw awe-ing over what halo has become. Unless they are heartless cold machines I find it hard to say that they wont have put some passion into this game.
Much love Bungie, old halo fans and vet's, and hopefully Frankie and the 343 team.
Joe.
