Ahh it's you. Been a while hasn't it? We WILL finish this.

Just you wait.

On E3 I was one excited motha-blam!-. I knew that the halo trilogy would continue. Then I saw the h4 tralier an 343 might have kicked me in the. Balls. WTF? The scene when the ship is exploding and crashing on the planet was raw but when he got out, he had JETPACKS??!? In halo 3s legendary ending, I saw no JETPACKS IN HIS BACK$! Obviously this can't be new armor brcause he was still alseep when cortana woke him up. And yhe planet he was going to crash on LOOKED NOTHING LIKE THE PLANET IN HALO 3! 343 sayed they are not gonna make any dramatic changes and just go deeper in the story BUT WHEN THEY PUT JETPACKS ON HIM it question me on what's gonna happen in halo 4.

It was just a trailer to tease us at what's to come. It's why it's called a "teaser trailer".

So don't worry about any canon discrepancies right now.

  • 06.10.2011 5:38 AM PDT

1) All MJOLNIR suits had a built in thruster pack for maneuvering in zero gee environments.

2) And there IS a reason why he looks different. This was just a CGI trailer supposed to tease some new aspects of the game and plot, not meant to promote gameplay itself. It could every easily be new armor.

You should care otherwise you won't be taken seriously with your "text speak". I would say try to read the books (to get a better insight on what a Spartan has/can do..) but that doesn't seem likely does it ?

It is happening - don't like it ? Then play Modern Warfare Clone #482794

It isn't a jetpack . The Chief has always had this on his suit, its just he's never used it in game before. Plenty of times in the books, but not in game.

My jokes, so I don't lose them (ignore this):
ZedFish's Opinion on Sgt. Foley.
ZedFish's Forerunner Rickroll.

Well, the obvious solution is to complain on the Bungie website how another company has ruined an unreleased game that you know nothing of, bar a 2-minute trailer.

Wasn't a jet pack. They were just some sort of mini-thrusters for space, but trailers aren't usually canon anyway. Also, this is part of a new trilogy. It isn't really a continuation of the old trilogy.
It sort of goes like this.

The Original Trilogy (Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3)
Halo Wars
Halo 3: ODST
Halo Reach
The newer Trilgoy

They are different stories, but all part of a bigger story.

Also, some things look different when they are closer.

  • 06.10.2011 7:58 AM PDT

he's right. they ruined halo with H4, if only they could've stuck with Reach. that game was perfect, everyone loved it.

  • 06.10.2011 8:04 AM PDT

Its NOT a jet pack, its thrusters built into his armor. He had them in Halo 2 and 3 but never used them

  • 06.10.2011 8:04 AM PDT

Holy -blam!-!

...I don't know why I said that.

Anyway, it was either in a 343 podcast or in an IGN interview that Frankie said that he did in fact have different armor than the armor he entered into cryo with but he wouldn't say how or why at the moment.

The thrusters I believe were introduced in The Chiefs armor at the beginning of Halo 2. If you look at pictures or play the past Halo games, you'll notice to "vents" protruding down his back and that is what the exhaust excreted from when he propelled himself in the E3 trailer.

First of All he was not falling to a planet he was be brought up into a ship. And did u notice that the Master chief voice is different and that cortana might look different it looked like she had dark hair and i think her voice was different too.

Really? You're complaining about jetpacks? You're completely... you know what, I'm not even gonna say it.

NOWHERE in ANY canonical source is it EVER stated that the MJOLNIR Mk. VI had built in thrusters. Stop stating conjecture as fact.

Thats because all MJOLINIR has it. They never singled it down to one armor permutation. Read the books people

Oh, so all MJOLNIR has it?

I guess that's why they always don external t-packs for space ops. And why James, when aforementioned external t-pack was hit, tumbled helplessly into space.

Give me a source that says every MJOLNIR amor (Mk. IV, V, VI) has built in thrusters.

I suggest you do the same, in the books, thrusters are used as packs just like, well the jetpack, they are not built into the armor. In The Fall Of Reach there are several parts where they talk about it, same with Ghosts Of Onyx.

Gt = xKryeZ
Halo 3 1750 G
Halo 3: ODST 1000 G
Halo Reach 1400 G
Halo CEA
Halo 4

Okay calm down I'm just gonna say this, third party CGI teaser

Gonna just say this for probably the 9001st time today.

CGI trailer =/= gameplay.

  • 06.10.2011 11:48 AM PDT

Am I supposed to write something funny here?

MJOLNIR mk IV and V don't have built-in thrusters. And the armor in trailer is not mk VI. (Possibly something that Halsey puts together in the Dyson Sphere)

No they didn't. If you actually read the quotes I took from the book instead of spitting out cute little insults at me in the other thread you would've seen that they didn't have internal T-packs. Instead they had external ones that they picked up, wore, then discarded.
"Read? LOL I don't know how to read. If I knew how to do that we wouldn't be in this predicament in the first place. If you want to win this argument you can't use you fancy 'knowledge' and 'facts' and 'rational arguments'. I thought that was a given?"

What exactly are you quoting?

In any case to repost the quotes again that prove that neither the Mk IV nor Mk V had internal thrusters since people still keep on thinking that...

The Fall of Reach page 144:

"Spartans," John said, "grab thruster packs and make ready to go EVA. Everyone else-" He motioned to the three technicians.
"-get into the forward cabin. If we fail, they'll be coming after the Pelican. Protect Dr. Halsey."
He moved Aft. Kelly handed him a thruster pack and he slipped it on.

That was for Mark IV armor. No integrated thruster pack.

Page 348:

James almost had the explosives rigged to the nose free. A shower of needles hit him. One stuck the tank of his thruster harness-penetrated.

Obviously if it was integrated there wouldn't be a harness for the thing since it's built right into the armor. Further down the same page:

Linda shrugged out of her thruster harness.

No need to delve into how that shows it's a separate piece. That's for Mk V.

Ghost of Onyx too has Thruster interaction.

Kurt ran his own diagnostic. They couldn't take any chances with the packs. Designed for
long range deep space operations, it was one of the riskiest pieces of equipment they'd been
trained on. Even with triple redundancy in NAV system and stabilizers, one accident and
there was enough compressed tri-amino hydrazine in the double fuel tanks to propel you so
far and so fast off course, rescue would be an astronomically remote possibility.

Ghosts Of Onyx, Page 28.

I don't know about you, but I've never seen a Spartan carrying a pair of fuel tanks on his back before.
