To all those who said Bungie wouldn't make Halo 2 for PC. Spartan and I knew it would come, we stuck to it, and we were right.

Not to add yet another thread to the growing list of Halo 2 PC Threads, but seeing that I haven't made a thread in...three months? I think this particular occasion merits a thread. But firstoff,

The logic.
(Relax, I'll get to the game in a minute...) 012 and I knew it would come because naturally, it made the most sense. Microsoft is a business, and businesses (especially M$,) stand to make money. Where the market exsists, the company will cater. It doesn't take a course in economics to understand that concept. And because of the Halo 2 PC (H2PC) potential market, Moneysoft just couldn't pass up this opportunity. Cheers, Spartan 012. Cheers.

OMG WTF? LAGGG! HAX! VIRUSEZ! TKERZ!
Always has been and always will be a part of any PC game. I don't expect H2PC to be an exception. As for hacks and viruses, people will eventually figure some out to attack us with. No software is foolproof, and with both H2PC and Windows Visita, I suspect the same. Oh, there will always be a (ME)=KING in any game, and I'm guessing there'll be a few notorious TKers and the like. Which brings me to...

Gameplay?
Should be much improved. Obviously, essential components on the Xbox superfluous to the PC version (such as auto-aim) will be eliminated. Like Xbox, I expect gameplay to be slightly more frenetic and faster-paced than the first game. And who doesn't want to play as a bada$sed, 4-jawed alien, anyways? I also expect some minor tweaks to playing styles...Veteran players who rely on a few time-honed tactics may have to adjust a bit. (Goodbye, trusty ol' pistol. *sob*) But again...like H2Xbx, the Overshield might just as well be a huge neon sign with "shoot here" written on it. And voice capabilities? Will likely be included in lieu of the typechat. The flipside, however, is actually being forced to LISTEN to KING and other such jerks spew out profanity, vulgarity and racism instead of just reading it. Hope bungie has the foresight to include a chat-off button.

Halo 2 Custom Edition?
Posted by:Bungie.net
Q: How will map creation work?
A: We have not yet announced specifics on map creation at this time.

Since the game is handled by "an internal Microsoft Game Studios team," a Custom Edition seems a bit up in the air. (Remember, it was Gearbox who came up with CE for Halo PC.) However, given the sucess of H1CE, I definitely believe in a Custom Edition for Halo2. Besides, see that quote? Sounds a LOT like their original take on Halo2 for PC, remember that sticky?

System Requirements?
With a high-end computer, I'm guessing it'll have superb graphics and such. Christmas-Tree Lights (Overshields), gore effects, animations, and Camo will look visually great! Computer-based lag will likely be even more of an issue, seeing that, for example, even if I upgraded my computer's OS to Visita, I would certainly fall short of the required RAM/CPU/Graphics Card requirements. Oh, and a high-speed internet connection may be a requirement, seeing the current trend in games. (I guess my role here as an info guy here wouldn't be considered "done" anytime soon.) Ah yes, Windows Visita. Personally, I'd much rather see it on a slightly safer and more popular OS like the old XP. With the first few builds of a new OS, there will inevitably be holes and gaps here and there that hackers and viruses would love to exploit. Besides, for those tight on cash *cough*, it'll be expensive to purchase all of this right after it's first released.

Stop the agony! Just release the frickin game!!!
Hole up, then. It's gonna be a bit of a longish wait. Just a bit. Had the job offerings gone undetected, I suspect they probably wouldn't have announced anything, perhaps echoing the Apple philosophy with their iPods; never announce till the very last moment. Anyways, Halo1PC took a year to make, H2PC might take even longer, seeing that it'll be running on a brand new OS. Microsoft will (obviously) need to at least release Visita before H2PC can come out. Since that may take anywhere from now until December 31, 2006, I'm guessing the game may be released perhaps a year Visita's release? Bungie & crew will need to configure the game to run on the real version of Visita, which may take a while. But likely they'll throw in a few goodies, like PC-exclusive maps, weapons and vehicles, and if they're planning something along the lines of H2Xbx's Live system, it'll certainly add on to the time required for the game.

Halo 3 PC?
Posted by:Bungie.net
Q: Is Bungie's lack of involvement in the port of Halo 2 for Windows Vista due to their work on Halo 3?
A: Although Bungie Studios' primary focus lies elsewhere, it is important to note that they are involved in the creation of Halo 2 for Windows Vista. They are working closely with an internal Microsoft Game Studios team.

Might as well shoot this bird down with this post...Yeah, that'll come to PC as well. Unless either H2PC or Halo 3 Xbox (H3Xbx) proves to be a spectacular faliure. Given H2's phenomonal sucess on Xbox, however, neither seems likely to happen.

Halo 2 for PC. There are those who said this day would never come. What have they to say now?

well i for one think that the release for vista may turn out to be a very good thing. after all, with new os features, and bungie being a part of m$, there might be some os feature integration involved.

my take: wait and see what happens. id rather play a game and watch the drama unfold than waste time and resources begging for my desired ending.

Yeah Halo 3 will come to... and like Me15ter said...

There are those who said this day would never come. What have they to say now?

How stupid must those people feel to say that it will never come out, they should've known...

I said it wouldnt, I had reason, they were good but I was wrong.

Not afraid to admit it at all.

But I did say Id be happy if they did. Sadly thats now not the case, as its Vista only.

I have to ask, would they do it if they were not trying to push Vista? We wont know, but an interesting Q none the less.

WIndows XP is an old-fogey as far as OS's go anyway. Given the recent advances and redirections in Processing Technology, a new OS is needed that supports dual cores or dual processors and multi-threaded games and 64-bit apps.

The handwriting has been on the wall. Now it's on the website.
