"On the seventh day, god did not rest, but rather he created 64 player multiplayer!"

It's not a confirmed source but that big write up posted by a user the other day that is supposedly written by some journalist that watched a video of Halo 4 stuff mentions that the UNSC and ONI have been active on this planet/ship/whatever for quite some time...which, in my opinion, is very lame.

Edit: here it is: http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=61278968

"Presumably, ONI had been top secretly researching the planet for some. There are UNSC forces on the planet but they look really degraded and disorganized and it was implied that they may be divided into factions and warring with each other."

yeah if the UNSC would be there it wouldn't give the game a halo feeling of exploration

Am I supposed to write something funny here?

If true, very lame indeed.

It basically spits in the face of the Halo 3 ending, in my opinion... We had Chief and Cortana floating in space, unaware of where they are. Cortana claims it could be months or even years before anyone picks up their beacon, and they just happen to float to a planet where ONI and the UNSC are active?

I'm sure 343 will have an explanation though, like this planet being so super top secret that even Cortana didn't know about it (and couldn't detect any nearby planets?), but, we'll have to wait until we have more details.

I can sh.it a jelly doughnut...

I would bet my -blam!- that there will be hogs in Halo 4.
If not on the planet, then surely in the half of the frigate MC is on will have some.

Cortona didn't know about ONYX...not to mention other things...

EDIT: And look, ONI sees SPARTANs as expendible, as is Cortona. They need them to fight, not to know, as they are more then willing to put a bullet in John's head if he gets in their way. Yes, he'll do some damage, but he's an expendable asset and beyond Combat he is worthless, they have their own people for other things.

Old GTs; RebelRobot, Flamedude

If the UNSC (or some aspect of it) are on this Forerunner construct then yeah, it will compromise the ending of Halo 3. Suddenly its not a big deal, and suddenly the mystery of the Forerunner construct becomes less significant.

Time will tell if there is any truth to this... but I am starting to get a glimmer of a bad feeling about this.

Did you forget about the armory and "garage" of the forward unto dawn... Presuming they are on chiefs side of the ship...

And you don't know what's going to happen in Halo 4 as far as the storyline goes, so their is a possibility of UNSC involvement...

If it is the Onyx shield (Where Halsey is) then you will most likely UNSC weapons... But like I said you don't know what is going to happen in Halo 4

Right, but look...at the end of Halo 3, Cortana and the Chief are FLOATING...not going full speed ahead with thrusters at maximum...they're FLOATING... How far away could this planet have been if they simply FLOATED to it? And Cortana couldn't detect it? The next question to ask is, "well, how long have they been floating?" C'mon...you'd have to be floating a VERY long time to have been so far away from a planet like this that Cortana couldn't detect it...I foresee 343 having some continuity issues in the future...

As for being expendable, no. Spartan IIs were not expendable, they were created as humanity's last hope with much more precise training and care put into them. Spartan III's were created to be expendable though....

Being alone.
You're a mod, you should be used to that.

I think they picked up on master chiefs beacon by this time and are on their way to pick him up unaware of what chief is getting himself into.

  • 06.10.2011 12:37 PM PDT

i hope chief is on his own with cortana, they get in some sort of situation where you have to wxplore places and kill people..

and i hope there isn't going to be some unsc's who are like hey how ya doing

If it is onyx, then there will obviously be unsc personal and vehicles and such on the planet, as onyx was the spartan 3 training grounds.

don't believe that unsc crap. about that interview with frank, he did give good info but he seemed to be in a hurry or something lol

Sikorsky14 - Animator

assault rifle should be in the game, as at the end of halo 3 chief puts his assault rifle in the weapon holder beside the cyro then goes to sleep. Also maybe there is a armory on that half of the ship.

  • 06.11.2011 2:31 AM PDT

I'll just pop in my halo 4 disc to check it out...

Seriously, how... how in gods name would you know

  • 06.11.2011 2:59 AM PDT

since the FuD is propably gonna crash on that "planet", i reckon chief could get vehicles and ammo from the wreck.
however, since there would be no ammo drops the game propably still relies heavily on new weapons.

regarding the leaked ONI info...

This^ the concept in that thread is plausible.

Thought: What if ONI doesn't have humans stationed there per se? It could be a classified group of aliens that we've never known about. (Technically, if the ONI thing is true, this would be the forerunners as the classified group of aliens; however, I'm suggesting another group of aliens.)
