Subject: Halo 2 should not be marketed for VISTA

-:{Conrad961}:-

I think its stupid to make Halo 2 for windows Vista. Why should everyone have to pay 300 dollars to up grade their system or buy a new computer when Halo 2 would run fine on windows XP. Its just another way for them to advertise their product for Microsoft. If it was released for PC there would also be more ways for people to cheat and mod. Its already killed the game for the xbox, how do you think it will work on a computer?

Sure i want to get the new OS sooner or later but i dont think they should be advertising Halo 2 with it just so more people will have to buy it to play Halo 2 for PC. Most people who have a desktop computer now will most likly have to buy a new Computer and HI-Def monitor to fully be able to run Vista.

One reason it's on Vista is because the OS will be more stable than XP and the higher system requirements mean a lot less things have to be done to support such a wide variety of video cards and setups.

With the edition of what Rogue Sniper said, this is just a perly marketing strategy. Halo 2 was such a huge game when it was released for the Xbox, just think of what it would be like now that it comes out for the PC. Maybe not as big, but it will still be big enough. All the PC gamers that didn't get it for Xbox will now get it for the PC, they just have to get VISTA before hand. So not only will microsoft be selling one of the most popular games in existance, it will also get the added benifit of having alot of people buy their new Windows VISTA. Im not getting VISTA thats for damn sure. I just had a hard enough time upgrading my Windows 2000 to Windows XP.

Halo 2 PC for Vista will only make things better! People have to think of the outcome before complaining.

Yea it's is blatantly for that reason. I don't care what they wrote in the recent FAQ that's probebly the biggest load of bull I've ever seen. Halo 2 can work perfectly fine on windows XP. As in an example: Half life 2 uses XP and Halo 2 runs on the xbox equivalent....Vista Halo is a marketing target.

Like I said in another thread, this is a milestone down the road of corruption. How how long till Bungie produces a crappy game every 3 months? Here's hoping never.
Still Halo 2 vista will still be good at least, but I'm not paying cart loads of money for the OS.

XP at it's status of a few years old is about £100 if I look in the right places. Vista at new would probably be £300 at least (that's around $500)

Now considering my belief that all OS should be free, that is a lot of money.

Just cause it will run on xp doesn't mean it isn't a good idea not to develope it for xp. For all you know, Vista could be the greatest thing, and there will be a bazillion little things you aren't thinking of, that will be possible because it is developed for vista.

Its like saying, I can drink beat juice, but do I really want to when I could drink nicer tasting chocolate milk?

Sawnose already said the Vista decision was an engineering decision not a marketing one, they want to put the game on the best possible platform. Halo PC was designed to run on DX9 using the 2.0 shaders. It still ran on lesser systems but it just didn't look as nice. That may be the case here.

Hahahahah $300? It's most likely going to be $199 like all other other Windows'. Also, there are rumors that it's going to be $99...

in otherwords would microsft to do that (market to the old system first), it would be shooting itself in the foot.

Why should an OS be "free"? If an OS should be "free" then maybe gas should be "free". Perhaps your internet service should be "free". Heck, why not have everything that you have to normally pay for be "free"!

I thought Bungie said they were not going to make Halo 2 for PC? What made them change their mind? And if you dont think that Vista will be more than 300 dollars, your the stupidist person i know. Yeah Vista will be nice but its not so nice when their advertising it with Halo 2. Bungie themselfs have posted 3 new pages for Vista meaning that they wern't expecting so much crap coming from fans.

They never said they wouldn't make H2PC - in fact, they continually stated that they hadn't said anything concerning it [where do you guys get the idea they said "no"?]

$300? Someone has never been around for the launch of an OS before. If they priced it that high no one would buy it. $199 is more reasonable and most would find that acceptable. I beg you to try and find evidence as to why it would be priced higher than XP's original release. No human would buy an OS for $500 either, and no company would be so foolish.

Controller? Go for the mouse/keyboard - the accuracy is far better.

I undestand that they would want to put halo 2 on the highest platform they can to macke it lock and feel as good as posible, but we have lagy halo and we still licke it so wy not have lagy halo 2 on xp. Of course, whatever we do, microsoft will still relese it on vista enyways.

Nope. The sticky aiming isn't going to be in the PC version to help you anymore so you're basically handicapping yourself if you use a thumbstick to aim.

Windows XP Pro Runs for 299.99 at Bestbuy.com Why should Vista be any less than Windows XP Pro when it can do so much more.

  • 02.11.2006 11:12 PM PDT

Thinking of something witty to write here since 2004...

Halo 2 wouldn't run on XP anyway. You should be happy that it's coming for PC in the first place!

If you play Halo 2 Vista with a controller, a lot of keyboard and mouse users are going to be schooling you unendingly. A mouse lets you turn faster and aim better.
