Just because you can't afford vista doesnt mean the rest of us should have to hear you complain.

If i can play Halo 2 Vista with my 360 controller alota nubs are goin down.If you play Halo 2 Vista with a controller, a lot of keyboard and mouse users are going to be schooling you unendingly. A mouse lets you turn faster and aim better. Amen to that, a Grunt! But hopefully Vista will support the 360 controller in the first place. I would love to play Need for Speed: Most Wanted on my PC with an awesome gamepad like that.

We're all going to get a new OS anyways. It doesn't matter if it's a marketing ploy, or if DX10 is going to improve it anyways, most PC gamers will get Vista eventually. When I make the transition, I'm sure going to get H2PC.

I think its stupid to make Halo 2 for windows Vista. Why should everyone have to pay 300 dollars to up grade their system or buy a new computer when Halo 2 would run fine on windows XP. Its just another way for them to advertise their product for Microsoft. If it was released for PC there would also be more ways for people to cheat and mod. Its already killed the game for the xbox, how do you think it will work on a computer?

Sure i want to get the new OS sooner or later but i dont think they should be advertising Halo 2 with it just so more people will have to buy it to play Halo 2 for PC. Most people who have a desktop computer now will most likly have to buy a new Computer and HI-Def monitor to fully be able to run Vista.

1. How do you know it'll be $300?
2. Bungie can fight modding by releasing Halo 2:CE, which is meant for modding.
3. That's the idea, the only reason Halo 2 is Vista exclusive is because Vista will sell more.

Which wouldn't be so bad, except that I see a new thread just like this on the top of the boards almost every time I hop over here to see what's going on. It's coming out for Vista. Get over it. It may be TEH EVIL M$, it may simply take advantage of the latest technology and advanced architecture, but...god...

For those of you who think it's 300+ dollars, you're completely off. For those of you who want a free OS, have you considered Linux? And for the rest of you who complain about H2PC, get over it.

Im not getting VISTA thats for damn sure. I just had a hard enough time upgrading my Windows 2000 to Windows XP.

Even when support for XP is discontinued?

Hell, it's probably already at its retirement point in Microsoft's product cycle.

XP at it's status of a few years old is about £100 if I look in the right places. Vista at new would probably be £300 at least (that's around $500)

Now considering my belief that all OS should be free, that is a lot of money.

Halo 2 on Linux? I guess don't knock it till you try it, but still.

You're all arguring about how it should/shouldn't be on vista. But I want to know if theres gonna be a major update in its graphics?
I loved playin H2 on XBOX, but I felt a bit disappointed in the graphics, especially when the textures didnt pop up straight away (on mine at least).
Also, when compared to some of the newer games out now (Doom3, Quake 4, the upcoming UT2k7...) it does look a bit... sludgy. thats not to say it looks entirely bad, but if it comes on pc like it is now, the mainstream audience are gonna look at other titles first. 'Cause lets face it; they would look at graphics over gameplay/story first, but thats another topic.

Im gonna buy it either way.

ill bet there will be minor graphics improvements, and an overall cleanup of graphics, but nothing major. i sure as hell hope they get rid of the tex pop-up. with modern computers thats easy to overcome. especially when modern computers have more than 64 mb of ram.

I loved playin H2 on XBOX, but I felt a bit disappointed in the graphics, especially when the textures didnt pop up straight away (on mine at least). That happens on everybody's box. I especially found the explosions annoying, which are occasionally just appear as one huge pixel. Because the Halo 2 taxes on Xbox so much, with its excellent sound quality, graphics, and AI. But with high-end computers, that won't be a problem. Halo 2 will run smoothly on a decent gaming rig with no graphical hiccups like that. That's why H2PC will hopefully be better than the Xbox version.

Vista is also more stable, it wont get exceptions alot. And it probley wont freeze as much. Halo 2 is a big game with huge requirements that ment a stable computer. Vista is more stable and has more things than xp.

Also H2PC will probley have more requirements than the Xbox version or halflife-2

Don't double post.

But seriously, higher sys. requirements than Half Life 2?

I think not.

Or maybe you don't have all the information yet. I know it is currently fashionable to assume you're being screwed, but in this case, the truth is significantly more interesting. As the project progresses and the feature set gets locked down, you'll probably figure it out.

Yea it's is blatantly for that reason. I don't care what they wrote in the recent FAQ that's probebly the biggest load of bull I've ever seen. Halo 2 can work perfectly fine on windows XP. As in an example: Half life 2 uses XP and Halo 2 runs on the xbox equivalent....Vista Halo is a marketing target.

Vista has a new File Management system, and is optimized for dual core CPU's.

C'mon, we know how badly Halo 1 runs on Windows XP, and it was designed for it. How bad do you suppose Halo 2 would be?

To whoever said that Windows XP Pro was $300.

You fail.

No, you fail. That's OEM, not retail. Good luck finding an OEM version of Vista Professional when it comes out.

Here is the cost of XP Professional (Not an upgrade either, this is the full version). Regularly $299.00. That price is after it has been on the market for forever. When Pro came out, it was $399.00

Those of us that have been around for a while remember these things. You kids today don't remember what it was like when 2000/XP came out and how much of a hassle it was to upgrade. You needed new hardware, AND the new OS.

Vista will be more of the same. This is nothing new. This happens everytime a new OS comes out. It's a fact of life. If Microsoft chose to never improve their products, we'd still be using DOS.

EDIT: I'm so sick of threads complaining about H2PC on Vista. I hereby refuse to read or comment on said topics.

XP Pro was never $400, maybe $300, but definitely not $400, if it was at that price, no one would buy it.

Also, you're looking at BestBuy.com, you have to look at those specialty stores and then you'll see the actual price.

Oh, and OEM is just a good as retail, except that you don't get a fancy box with it.

And don't bring up installing on multiple machines, because everyone knows how to do that with an OEM...

People don't have to get pro. Pro has little/no advantages for regular PC users. People who could use the extra features probably have the money to spend on it. People get pro cause its pro, its "better" than home.
