Hey guys I have posted questions like this in the past and got no answers other than get a new graphics card or computer. Some of your have been helpful but I have not gone out as far as buying a graphics card or new PC. I have been watching some halo vids on putfile and there was one video that got my attention. When I played the video the graphics sucked just as match as mine. No shine to armor. The texture to the ground all being the same just like a sand texture and green send for grass (In BG map). Visors all black, ECT. But as it went on I saw that the person could see burn marks, bullet holes, blood, Dark shading as in if you’re in a shadow of a cliff side, and light from flashlights and vehicle lights.

After seeing this I don’t think that the guy had a better graphics card seeing as how similar his graphics where to mine. So I got to thinking it may be a patch that this person downloaded. So guys if any of you have any info as to where I could find a graphics patch such as this plz reply. AND DO NOT GO OFF SAYING "No chance your can fix your graphics just get a new computer"

'And BTW if it helps I am running on A Dell Dimension 2400 desktop (yes I know it sucks)

here is a link to the vid i was watching:

there is no such thing as a "graphics patch" that will enhance it. You can get newer drivers, but that wont do anything at all.

The only way to be able to set everything higher is to buy a better graphics card. Chances are you have an AGP slot for your graphics card. To be able to set your graphics on the highest resolution with everything maxed out you'l need to spend at LEAST $200. And if your computer sucks, chances are you wont even be able to do that. So i hate to say it, but you should get a new computer if you want higher graphics(if your current computer is terrible). I am a computer engineering student in college and I know this stuff, so dont think im some 16 year old kid pissed off at the world.

what did you download it for, your videocard or halo itself? where did you download this, it was probably just an update for halo itself.

your videocard can only process so much, and when you start to increase the resolution, particle effects, lighting ect.... it cant process it as fast. Your screen is just a bunch of images that changes every so often. The rate at which it changes is called the framerate. What happens is when your frame rate drops below 24-30 fps it starts to look laggy. If this happens, you cant do anything about it other than buy faster parts.

they have made patches to improve graphics, the best one was fast shaders in Halo:CE. However the reason those options are grayed out is because they are not supported. My advise: Get new graphics card/computer. Once you do you'll unlock the beautiful world of pc gaming and be able to play all kinds of new and awesome games.

finally someone that understands. You can only improve preformance so much with additional software (not very much), and after that its all hardware based. you need to get a better videocard if you want to play with higher resolution and stuff. In order to play games with a high resolution (for halo 1280x1024, and all hte options on the highest setting), you will have to spend at LEAST $200, and thats not even guarenteed that you can have them at the highest settings. I payed $320 for my ATI x850XT Pro when it first came out, and i can run it on full settings.

Basically, your gonna want atleast an nVidia 6800 Vanilla for decent performance and settings. Mow the lawn, cook, clean, save all your cash...I went form an FX5200 to a 9800 Pro, and the difference was stunning. When I went from the 9800 Pro to my X850XT, my jaw dropped. It really makes a differecne...if you want to future prrof yourself, I'd look into getting a gig of total RAM, preferably 2, and a used 6800GT for Halo 2 + Vista.

Here are some screenshots I just took with my x850xt. If you buy an x800xl or higher, you can expect to see something like this. I had to resize the image, so theyre smaller than they were originally. Also converted to jpeg so they look a bit fuzzy.

OK. First he has a DELL 2400, Same as mine. That means you have:

2 PCI Slots
Intel Celeron or Pentium 4 Processor
512MB or 256MB Ram
Intel Mobo
Windows XP Home SP1

I got a FX5200 PCI for 50 odd quid and it runs fine on 640X480, which is not a bad resolution. As for ram, more ram does not really matter that much, for instance the FPS from 512 - 2Gb is only likw 2 Fps which is definatly not worth it, plus you can only use Dell Ram for Dell PC's. I Think.

You probably have an Intel Extreme Graphics. Which suck A$$. So buy a PCI Card (Geforce fx 5200 pci 128mb Ram) and get the latest drivers for the card.
It will play alot better.

And dont listen to kids, they know absolutly .... 0
