Why do I have a feeling Cryptum was released just to give us a clue of what Halo 4's enemy is...
Could it be that this planet, is actually Human technology before they went to war with the Forerunners and were devolved into a lessor race as punishment for moving into Forerunner space.
What if this planet is what is left over of that empire. What if this is the remnants of what the Humans were once capable of. What if they are still alive in that planet, in some kind of high tech cryo that gets turned off because of Master Chief stepping inside and making the planet come to life.
These humans, remembering why they were put in cryo, head to their home planet, Earth, and Master Chief has to stop them from taking over the galaxy once more. Whats even more terrifying is that the Human genes before the Forerunners devolved them became the humans that are "us", They actually had a completely different genetic structure. The Modern humans are closer to forerunner DNA, and that is why "we" can use the Forerunner Tech. But the pre-devolved humans, are completely different in genes, but look basically the same. Think of the pre-devolved humans as Chimps, and the modern the dumbest and most unrelated mammal you can find.
So the modern humans have no control over this technology. And even with Cortana's Forerunner knowledge, she still has trouble hacking through this strange technology. She actually finds it quite violent, as if the AI are built to destroy anything that is not the ancient kind of human.
But it seems that as they go deeper in, she goes completely rampant, and it seems she abandons Chief. But this is the same ploy from Halo 2-3 with the Flood, or so we think. Wow, am I confusing you? See she becomes a double agent, or even maybe a triple agent. She begins to forget whose side she is on, and sometimes helps Chief, and then randomly starts attacking him. She can not handle all the information, and slowly becomes one with the ancient human technology. Chief learns from her, before she is completely lost, the direction of the core of the planet, and how to stop these ancient humans from taking Earth back (oh, he is fighting his way through against them by the way) and how to blow it up.
Not sure what happens next though. This is only like halfway through the game by then.
Oh, I would like to say that somehow, using those special Forerunner tech finding devices the Elites have on the Cruisers, that they find this Planet and help chief... but that won't happen. No. Because it's not forerunner tech and it works completely differently.
Your thoughts?
