I'm new to posting on B.Net forums, so if I'm doing something wrong, let me know.

Ok total mind -blam!- I was thinking about posting this today! I played Halo 3 recently after finishing Cryptum and when gravemind said that line, I was " No -blam!-ing way....."

Our ignorance for the use of the flood powder, screwed the galaxy.....

Touche for beating me to the post.

No, the Forerunners are ethnocentric bastards.

I don't know if someone has already written this, and I know it isn't the point...But the Gravemind doesn't say that in Halo 3. He says it in Halo 2 (Gravemind level), and Cortana says it in Halo 3 (Cortana level).

Humans used "Flood Powder", not knowing what it was, on their pets, which in time created the Flood.

I think that's what Gravemind means.

The hell is Flood Powder?
Flood in powder form. Used it on pets and it made their behavior better I think. Then they started mutating and eating each other and eventually began eating humans.

So the Flood are nothing but a mutation of an ancient dog?

All of Halo lore is down to one incompetent guy in an intergalactic pet shop...........

We theorize that the Precursor intentionly put it there for the humans so that the flood would raepz the forerunners.

We meet again, young one. I am the last of those who gave you breath and shape and form, millions of years ago. I am the last of those your kind rose up against and ruthlessly destroyed. I am the last Precursor. And our answer is at hand.

Humanity was warring with the Forerunner for two reasons: They were expanding and conquering other worlds, and they - along with the Prophets - drove the Flood from our Galaxy. The Forerunner wished to know how they managed to previously drive the Flood away and also wished to keep balance and stop the Humans from settling more planets. So they warred, they were all destroyed except for one planet that would one day become Earth. The Librarian saved few humans and they were sent into the stone age, their minds filled with memories of their past lives and the war, and their secret of defeating the Flood.

The Precursors created all, the Forerunner destroyed them, but the Precursors had created one last tool, the Flood.

Imagine a triangle. It's perfect, but a little plain. You take a chisel, and carve a small decorative symbol into it to make it a little more interesting. People like it, but it could use a little more.

So you then take a sledgehammer..

Um, that's more or less what we've all been saying.

Haha, it's a little bit more than that.

What striked me as odd is that retro-Humans found a cure to the flood.

That means there is a cure to the flood, and lols at the forerunner not being able to find one and creating Halo's instead.

So what were these Pheru like?

Dinosaurs?

I thought you read cryptum.

Oh, yes, I know some of you are saying that, but I figured I'd attempt to summarize it for those in the thread who believe otherwise or are speculating otherwise.

John117 is Galactus
Galactus is God

You were on a role until you said "Humanity created the Flood"

It is not really known for sure whether the Precursors "created" the flood or not, they say the flood is from a different galaxy but the Precursors may have been able to travel from galaxy to galaxy since they were of Tier 0 advancement, with that said.
The precursors used the flood as a fail-safe against the forerunners just like the forerunners used the halos against the flood. The precursors may actually have been the descendants of humanity or at least the creators of us.

I know Halo Legends isn't actually canon to the story, but I remember seeing in one of the episodes, the flood came from another galaxy & caught the Forerunners off guard, since they didn't know how to fight it. So I assume that the Gravemind means he's a monument to all their sins, as saying, "I'm here due to the failures of your ancestors". Something like that. Why is this an issue?

Legends is completely canon, except for Odd One Out.
It's not canon.

only problem, is that thje 2 theories conflict, but i go with cryptum, because it's a book, not a cartoon.

But Origins is seen through the point of view of Cortana, who may be rampant at that point in time. So anything seen in that episode may not be true.
Legends is not canon. 343 is the one who had Legends made. 343 always breaks off the canon when they make anything Halo.

Retard, none of that stuff happened except for the episodes where Cortana talks about the flood. Everything else never happened. There was no ODST team accompanied by a Spartan II, who sniped a prophet on their homeworld. No Mission Chief went on to use those space motorcycles. None of it happened. 343 sponsored that crap.

*Sigh* again it was merely artistic license and a dramatization of events that happened, mixed with things bungie wanted it to be and foreshadowing.

(actually reads post) huh? how can you say something that we never knew about didn't happen?

the events of Heian are now highly important since cryptum came out and there is nothing in canon that conflicts with it happening (other than the prophet being killed, blame ONI).
And that wasn't even their homeworld, your lack of knowledge is the idiotic reason you don;t think it is canon.

Booster frames were most likely the prototypes for the sabre's, and while i don't like that episode that much. the dramatized events did happen.

question everything...truth has no pedigree

Hmmm, interesting notion OP.

I always thought, since he was talking to Chief and the Arbiter, he meant "all your sins" as in "the sins of all of you". I thought he was just chastizing all non-Flood in general, but he could have meant something more specific as you suggest.

in legends Cortana is telling about halo history the best she can with the data she has and the fact she seems to be going rampant she assumed that flood was from out of the galaxy she had no information that could tell her that the flood started with space pets

The Flood did come from outside the galaxy, what started the Flood off drifted into Human controlled space from outside the galaxy...and the rest, as they say, is history. Some humans fled into Forerunner Space, started causing trouble and prompted war with the Forerunners.
