Whenever this map editor is made for the vista version, CAN WE PLEASE get it for Xbox too? If so a thousand thanks and praises.

You people just don't understand the differences here. IT'S FOR VISTA FOR A REASON. On windows it has far more coding options, on xbox, it has very few. NO they can't just make one, it'd require reworking of the entire game, plus more HD space (more than you have, trust me), and a whole new team of xbox developers! It's not going to happen, stop asking.

Is there any plan to allow users to design maps for xbox live, have them go through a testing with bungie then published if accepted?

This update makes Bungie look like a bunch of tools. Microsoft tools.

I am really tired of Microsoft using Halo to sell their other products. First the Xbox and now Vista. That's the ONLY reason it won't be for XP. Gimme a break.

Tools.

And that Vista-babble...pitiful.

Tools.

Sorry bungie, but I have to agree with this guy. This is a tool to sell windows Vista. It would be just as easy to make it on XP (not other operating systems, though) because Vista will already have the same file storing and processing systems (media is the theme for this, not files). And if the file processing WAS different, all my favorite computer games and MAYBE EVEN battle for middle earth 2 and star wars empire at war (coming this month), two big games for XP, won't work anymore. This also guarantees that halo 3 will be xbox 360 exclusive, because OBVIOUSLY that would improve our enjoyment and performence of the game! (360 games in the past have been easily ported to the xbox by reducing graphical abilities.)

-blam!- bungie, -blam!- halo 2, -blam!- bill gates and microsoft

Bungie said it themselves, paragragh 3, last sentence "... Microsoft will take full advantage of our game" -at the cost of being complete jackasses

Well, nothing about their "other project", which they said they were "focusing more on" in the vista announcement thing. Still dissappointed with Bungie and mircrosoft over the H2PC for Vista only, but the news of another (x2 i suppose now, at least we hope :) ) novel shunts that to the side, happy days ahead hopefully.

Ugh, Vista...worst move you couldve made..
The game may be done by the end of the year, but DO YOU REALLY THINK VISTA WILL BE OUT ANYTIME SOON?!
its impossible for microsoft to keep a release date based on their OS
and not to mention, youre gonna have to pay 100+ bucks to buy the OS just to play the game..
you shouldve just made an XP compatible version and then jump to a vista update when they release it in 2010

Most. Retarded. Comment. Ever.

If you noticed, Frankie said it'd come out sometime this year (Vista, that is). 2010 is just a profoundly stupid estimate.

Hmm...frankie said,eh?..well..frankie works for bungie, and bungie said halo 2 was coming out in 2002...what ever happened to that?

and you cant ignore windows and its problem with os's...i.e. windows 97 and windows ME.

I say "Whateva" to you naysayers.
A OS that lets me play Halo 2 and connect to my 360 while I'm reading a new Halo novel.

I'm so there.

I have a rendezvous with death. At some disputed barricade.

I agree with both of these guys/girls bungie is employing halo 2 as a marketing ploy to sell the new windows operating system. I personally WILL NOT be buying halo 2 for windows vista. If we take past windows operating systems as example they usually break down in the first 3 months and then you have to go buy another "revised" version where they stopped it from craqshing and then it still crashes. Personally i think that bungie has sunken lower than ever before in doing this. Since they were taken over by Microsoft Bungie has stopped caring about the customers and making an awsome game and now only cares about turning a profit. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO MAKING GAMES FOR MAC!!!! There just as powerful if not more and they are being left in the dark by bungie. You just arnt the company you used to be....

Mac Gamer.

I am a long time fan of the Halo universe, and of Halo in general. I own art books, the novels, models, Halo 1 PC, Halo 2...

...but I'm not getting a new OS anytime soon. Don't think this is just some immature internet-effect, Frankie, this is your fans hating what you (Bungie) have had to do to Halo 2 PC (because of some deal, probably with Gates himself.). I was really looking forward to a Halo 2 PC experience, but not at the estimated expense of $300 for a new operating system.

If you had told me that Halo 2 PC were to come out, and that I would not be buying it, I'd have called you a liar--nay, a varlet. A stinkin' pimpirate varlet. But this is the scenario that would stop me from wanting anything to do with it. It's Vista. A shameless marketing ploy, quite obviously with (very empty-sounding) technobabble direct from Microsoft's Vista Marketing Division. Now, I do not hate Microsoft, and I do not often speak harshly of the creators of products I regularly use. But Bungie, this is just a bid for money. You've got to see that, though I doubt you'd be in a very good position if you acknowledged it. The only honest, practical advantage Vista has (for a video game) is security-based...but I don't have security problems. And it's not my duty as a customer to drop $300.00 on OSes every 4 years.

Suffice to say, you've stopped me (a serious fan) from buying a title from the video game franchise and company I love most. Or rather, your deal with the corporate pseudo-devil has.

Is Microsoft funded by the Covenant?

I heartily agree, though i do not use a mac currently myself, i know that their power is greater than a pc (especially with the new intel macs coming out :] ), and bungie has definately taken a dive in turn for a big profit. I will refuse to buy the halo 2 for vista, and i wont even touch a vista install disc..if i install it, it will be a hacked version just so i can say im ripping of a company that rips everyone else off, and at the rate bungie is going as microsofts lap dog, i may just wait for a halo 2 crack and rip them off too.

I cant wait to see whats next for the monopoly of thieves...

When Halo 2 for Vista comes out, will more maps be made availible for download for Halo 2? I have seen the Halo PC maps modded into Halo 1 on the Xbox and they work perfectly fine. Will new maps for halo 2 vista be made for download on the Xbox? That would be awesome.

I have a rendezvous with death. At some disputed barricade.

Just because Microsoft moved you to a bigger house and made your game their "Lead out Title" for the xboxs is no reason to become there lap dogs! And to everyone who is going to buy it just for scenario builder shame on you. All it will be is the ability to place weapons and vehicles in already made maps. Just another ploy. So sad.

Note: I just realised that Feb 9th was right! Remember on legendary when ou finished the game is said feb 9th at the end of the credits!
