Subject: Is humanity's technology 500+ years in the future inferior?

I really love Halo, but it seems that the weaponry 500+ years in the future is quite primitive to what we have now for humans. The DMR is a semi-auto rifle that shoots quite slowly.

What really has always bugged me is the lack of armement for the humans. Besides energy shields for spartans, the spartans themselves, and MAC cannons, we really don't have that much do we? It looks like we have bulky space/atmosphere fighters which are longswords and sabres, and we have only a few vehicles. Im not gonna name them, but I think it would be cool if we had more things like we do now.

Like America's F22 Raptor. But it can fly in space. It may have to be a little bit bigger but it would be really cool.

I'm kind of all over the place about our technology in Halo, but what ever happened to that Gauss sniper rifle SGT Johnson used in Contact Harvest at the beginning? It would be cool if it was introduced into Halo.

This is just what I think. Feel free to enlighten me but please don't troll. (:

Maybe they spent less in military and more in civillian based tech. That would make more sense.

Possibly... But they were at war with terrorists so I'd think military tech would rise rapidly.

Not always. I doubt that they would need much development in the way of military considering they would only need space dominance to defeat the Insurrection.

They also had the Spartan II's around the time of the Insurrection so the UNSC may not have thought ahead of time to make their weapons better.

Though I do agree it does seem pretty low tech.

It takes a real man to back down from a fight, but it takes a spartan to finish it!

Its a game.

Reason why that military technology wasn't so advanced due to last two hundred years on civilian-theme technology that heavily were focused due to space colonization. Although, since Insurrection showed up and Human-Covenant War started, UNSC decided to start to researching more on military technologies and probably will continue after 2553, among with new focus on restoring the UNSC.

And it would be reasons of game engine's limitations or balance issues.

Not really. Your mom is over quite enough to make my fears mute.

Being alone.
You're a mod, you should be used to that.

No, it makes it uneven in multiplayer if things were as powerful as they should be. Read the books.

This. After slipspace drives were developed, all funding/research went into colonization efforts.

It wasn't until the rebels appeared that they even considered weapons development.

I'm not sure if it was Tom Clancy or not but if i remember right he once said the future soldier is an F16 on legs. Think about what an F16 is.. it's an efin' jet. By "F16 on legs" he meant our soldiers would have the same capabilities of an F16. Master Chief is no where near flying at mach speeds and shooting huge rounds out of his fists. We'll probably hit this theory in the next couple hundred years, MAYBE less since the United States seems to have an obsession with progressing in hardcore weaponry.

I somewhat agree with you sir.
