I killed both the elites operating the plasma cannons. Somehow, They magically fired again even though their operators were deceased.

And I guess Kat turned off her energy shielding while she knew a Covenant cruiser was glassing the place for some odd reason as she was shot in the head by a needle rifle with one shot and died.

When I had to survive after the last mission, I was intent on escaping Reach. I began to have doubts when an invisible force that caused me to suffocate and fall to the ground in about 10 seconds kept me from hijacking a wraith and raining fire down on those covie bastards that killed all my friends.

I noticed that throughout the Reach campaign, Noble team has just had the worst luck. Sad face,

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Unlike Chief, they don't have magical plot armor.

The frigate: The elites might have been operating coolent systems and the bridge crew were the ones actually taking the shots or possibly one of the previous rounds from the cannons did enough damage to destroy the ship (Maybe hit the ammo mag on the Savanhan)

Kat: Her shields were eighter knocked out from the blast or she just didn't have them on at the time.

Noble 6: Well, if you want to look at the out of bounds thing, he had already carried out his finale charge and he felt he had no more reason to live and so he died.

(Psycological thing were you no long have the will to live so you just lay down and die...)

Thanks for the intelligent response. And at least Noble 6 died kind of epicly.

Hehe.
My theory on Kat is that her suit got damaged.

  • 06.11.2011 11:35 PM PDT

Kat's shields was explainable.

For one, she didn't put on her helmet properly, her neck was exposed if you can catch it, thus the shields not reactivating. If people say it was an EMP it wouldn't make sense, how did the elevator work then?

As for the guns, notice the middle one? It didn't have an elite but it was firing? The Elite's weren't the ones taking the shots.

It's an ONI facility. It's possible that some more vital pieces of practical equipment (such as elevators in an incredibly tall building) were especially made to resist EMPs.

I always thought Kat was killed by a Beam Rifle. I mean, canonically it still exists, and if it were a needle rifle, surely the projectile would have stayed in her head instead of passing straight through?

I recently made a video that included that particular scene and her helmet is placed on properly, so she must have forgotten to turn on her shields (just like any member of Noble for all we know) or her shield generator was still EMP'd.

Honestly I'd chalk the whole visible neck thing to graphical limitations when it comes to transitioning from helmeted/unhelmeted Spartan. Jorge has that visible neck issue on Long Night of Solace. It's only seen during the one shot in which he talks with his helmet on, then takes it off without the camera angle changing at all. Considering that he had just gone through EVA earlier on when transferring to the Pelican, and that he only just learned that he'd have to sacrifice himself there would be no reason for his suit to already be breached like that.

It's almost as if you're saying that NOBLE team (and others) could have survived and that it's almost as if someone got lazy and decided to kill them off by limiting the player. XD

That only usually happens when you are older/content with just not existing anymore or a similar phenomenom can happen where you can die from a "broken heart", ie emotional pain manifesting itself as a physical one, in which your body willingly shuts down.
Strangely enough a sign of higher thought processes, to overcome primal instincts.

However, a soldier, a SPARTAN especially does not just lay down and die in the middle of a battle. A SPARTAN does not just say "screw everyone else I'm bored of this -blam!- now".

But really, I checked the scene frame by frame when I did it (to have a good timing with the rest of the video) and there's no gap whatsoever in Kat's scenario.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

I'd like to point out that the reason Kat had no shields was because they were being bombarded by 90 million roentgens of radiation. The charged particles would be constantly hitting the MJOLNIR shields, all of Nible Team was vulnerable but it was Kat that they had tracked the signal to.

  • 06.12.2011 11:01 AM PDT

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

^The Zealot could of had a drive-by and took out Noble Team. But they only went for Kat [as you said about the signal]....

I know suppressing fire by Noble Team and the actual glassing backed the phantom away. But this was really their chance to take the whole team out. Phantom turrets and side turrets, the whole charade, with Zealot shielding.Bam! headshot x5 would have been nice.

You're such a nerd.

I don't get why the Sabres/Savanna didn't attack the plasma batteries on the Corvette.

Either that Elite only had 1 bullet left in its NR or he was a giant sexist.

I really like to know how in gods name such a giant force was able to land on "the UNSC's POWERHOUSE" undetected....

Well think about it, Reach was lost and for all he knew everyone else there was dead. He had gotten Cortana to the Autumn, he was surrounded by his fallen comrades, and he was going to die fighting for reach.

As Halsey said at the end, He belonged to reach, his body, his armour... I can see him loosing the will to live.

Noble Six knew he couldn't find a way off of the planet, so he remained there hoping Jun would find him . . .
