"The measure of a man is what he does with power"-Plato

On Winter Contingency he complains he can't see.

Yet all Spartan IIIs are augmented with '88947-OP24' that basically gave them Night vision.

Silly ONI, thinking you're so smart yet you forget to give a SPARTAN an augmentation.

Yeah, because it's so much better to bleed out without doing anything than to take out something that is risking your main objective, how moronic right?

And to the topic of night vision, same could be said for John, seeing how he needs a flashlight to see in the dark.

Why couldn't he put it on Auto-pilot and jump out and survive?

Yeah he's a moron.

Then it's a design flaw in the Mjolnir.

Why would Halsey put on a flash-light if her SPARTANs can see in the dark?

They needed to give a use to that giant box of flashlights they got for Christmas of course.

Don't forget that the flashlight in a nuclear powered suit can run out of batteries.

Why not? those needles are strong enough to go through a titanium helmet (Kat's death) I don't doubt they can go through the pilot chair of a Pelican. We don't know what happened between those two levels so we can only speculate.

All Im trying to say is Carter had a variety of options other then sacrificing himself. His choice was the worst one.

Which doesn't stop Carter and the other Spartans from being dumb-asses.

I mean, it's apparent this version of the UNSC never heard of biofoam and all that high-tech meds they have.

The physics behind that was astounding.

Maybe he used biofoam, as you may or may not know, biofoam is just a temporary solution for hemorrhages and organ damage and in a few hours it simply breaks down. Now, The Package takes place in August 29th at the 26th hour of Reach's usual 27 hour long day. The Pillar of Autumn takes place at 1,600's hours, roughly 4pm, that leaves enough time for the biofoam to be used and to break down.

You're not getting the point.

A competent Spartan squad(Carter, Emile, Noble 6) shouldn't be playing cat and mouse with phantoms, banshees, and a scarab when said Pelican is capable of hypersonic and space flight.

Instead of stupidly traversing through narrow canyons at incredibly slow speeds, how about Carter just not be an idiot and flying directly to the Autumn with the Pelican's good old hypersonic engines, which most Covenant low atmospheric craft can't catch quick enough.

But no, you get a random cutscene with Carter suffering bloodloss and Emile and Noble 6 just standing around when most competent military forces always carry first aid kits(biofoam/meds) in their transport carriers, and that's ignoring the fact that some idiot decided to leave his bay door open for enemy fire to go through...

eh, you know that only the 33 Spartan II's that entered service as combat soldiers are Dr. Halsey's Spartans.
All Spartan III's were created without her knowledge!
She only found out the existence about the Spartan III's after the Visengard attack. She never saw any Spartan III's before she met the Noble Team at Sword Base. That' why she was quite moody against all Noble Team members except of her Jorge (SPpartan II).
While all SPartan II respect her as like a spare mother, Kat and Carter were quite disrespectful when they handed over the data card to her in the Sword base.

...So...what does that have to do with putting flashlights in a suit of armor as the person you were quoting was talking about?

In any case I do believe it's possible seeing that there were several contractors involved for various armor pieces, some of which saw adoption for main forces, that some things like a flashlight or low light vision mode were put in as a basic feature in mind when designing the helmet from scratch as a general consideration.

Course, still doesn't really explain why Spartans would need to use such features, and why something as simple as a flashlight runs out of juice so quickly. Chalk that up to gameplay, but still...

About the night vision: Gameplay reminder it most likely.
About the pelican: He had sustained major internal damage. He would have died anyways.
