Not when it comes to deciding which events are actually part of the story.
If Single-Player is apart of the story then Co-op is too. If it weren't, then Ntho 'Sroam and Usze 'Taham wouldn't have character biographies. This concludes my arguments on this matter.
It is because they have written biographies that they are a part of canon. If they had no such thing then they would just be nameless Elites that have no part in the story. Gameplay actions are not canon. If I betray the Arbiter and then he "resurrects" that is not a part of the canon is it?
And because there is no documentation of the exact events that occurred at those times there is no canon version save for the one the player creates.
Which is about as meaningless as one can get. There are millions of players in Halo. Millions of versions of canon? I think not.
