Subject: The Halo Franchise

"Living in the past is a luxury none of us can afford..."
"I know what the ladies like..."

Am I the only one that feels uneasy over the fact that a different company has taked over the beloved franchise that Bungie created? A universe that should have been wrapped up by its creators. Do things like these happen a lot in the gaming industry?

Yup, after Frankie said he wants ilovebees to be canon, he opened up the possibility of wreaking the Halo story.

In my opinion, Microsoft seems to just want to milk the series.

how the hell are you worried about that? have you not seen the new 343 vidoc? it's like a bunch of Halo fans have got together to continue the franshise, 343 knows what makes Halo Halo and I feel they're going to do very well. 343 rules.

By saying time-traveling AIs and their interactions with our world are canon? No.

It just doesn't seem right to me. Halo being adulterated by someone who isn't Bungie.
It feels like they're just doing if for the money.

I'm sure George Lucas was doing the prequels for the love of Star Wars, but they still sucked, same could be true for 343. You place too much faith in a rookie development team, a huge mistake.

I actually find it very interesting. Don't worry, ex-bungie employees are there to make sure that 343 doesn't do anything too drastic. I think there should definately be new graphics. I also bet 343 has some interesting ideas to add to Bungies. There's nothing to worry about. At the worse, it will be better than Reach, as The ex-bungie employees have already learned what was wrong with Reach, they will fix it, and give what the community wants. 343 will then add some amazing things. Just look at Defiant Map Pack. 343 did amazing, Amazing ideas and graphical display. I'm very excited for Halo 4.

If they loved Halo so much and respected Bungie so much they wouldn't even touch the franchise and respect Bungie's wishes to leave Halo to rest. You want to see Halo end up like Call Of Duty?

Yeah, the guy who did the Weekly Update during Halo 2 and for the beginning for Halo 3 and an artist will totally make sure Halo remains on track. Only two confirmed employees to my knowledge work for 343, everyone else comes from different backgrounds.

Weren't the map packs made by the same people in charge of Halo 2's map packs?
And as far as I know only a few ex-Bungie employees are in 343. Did Frank O'Connor even work on Halo CE?

I'm not sure. But we don't need the whole Bungie team, only a few. They know what Halo has been like and what the community wants. They'll guide 343. Heck, maybe 343 doesn't even need them to make a truely amazing Halo game. Maybe Halo could be even bigger and better than it ever was.

Hopefully I'm just being pessimistic. What I really want to know is how Bungie feels about this.

"We can finally make something else for a change? Yes! Halo was fun and all, but we've been dying to shed our wings and soar for years!"

  • 06.12.2011 11:01 PM PDT

I'm sure they're being even more attentive to halo 4 than we are. They probably have atleast one of their employees looking online at all times for any news. I'm sure they want to see what will happen with the series. If Halo 4 turns out worse than Reach somehow, I'm sure Microsoft will convince Bungie to step in and atleast guide 343. But I highly doubt that will happen. I think Bungie is totally okay with it.

I feel uneasy about Bungie going with Activision.

No matter what happens to Halo (though I'd hate to see it be destroyed because it was a big part of my childhood) I know that Bungie won't disappoint with their new IP and I'm looking foward to something bigger and better.

Why? Bungie isn't officially a part of Activision and have complete control of their new IP.

I know that, but still it's Activision!

Activision makes EA look like gods gift to man.

srs Bungie could of gone with Ubisoft or EA, why the heck Activision?

Why not? I understand people think it's cool to hate Activision nowadays, but get over it. It's pathetic.

As long as they don't end up like Infinity Ward, it's all good.
