Since you can't shoot while sprinting, I figure you will be able to do it for a good amount of time. Mabey they will have it where MC gets out of breath after a while.

Actually, someone already mentioned this. I'm sure I read it somewhere as well, it has already been "confirmed" (more or less) that it's going to be a temporary sprint function to get out of hot situations.

It's not meant for running from point A to B.

I think it should be unlimited, because you can't shoot, and you can't turn and it's not as if you can escape by running through walls it it? Although it could be like the VFX on Viewtiful Joe, you run it down, it charges back (which is what lots of people have been saying, I think) that wouldn't be bad so long as it was a SIGNIFICANT increase in speed, if it wasn't it would have to be infinite. And if MC's armour changes part way through the game, which I doubt, but anything's possible, then there could be a speed or stamina difference between the Mk5, and Mk6.

He won't just stop, he'll slow down to the normal speed.

It still not a good reason. You say its not a big deal because you cant shoot? So your basicly saying, in a ctf game ill be running to my base with your flag, your gonna sprint all the way to me (since its unlimited), then your gonna stop sprinting and immediatly pound me with dual needlers. Seems pretty cheesy to me.

And plus the word is sprint, sprints are pretty much when you run a short distance.

L0ki Has a really good point. It's called sprinting for a reason. Nobody "sprints" a mile. You sprint like twenty yards. I think that you will be able to sprint for a couple of seconds, and then you have to slow down to his "normal" speed. But that makes me wonder...How often can you sprint? Because I can all ready see some cheepo player sprinting, stopping, and then sprinting again. It would drive veryone insane.

I think it will have a 5 or 10 second recharge, maybe longer. What would be really cool was if your sprinting stamina depended on your choice of weapons. You know, like you could sprint pretty far with pistols, but you can't sprint far with a rocket launcher.

Im guessing you can sprint for about 15 seconds.
Just a random good amount of time.
what im curious about;

Can you melee while sprinting? Get some killer bruce lee master chief fu going.
And which button on the x-box cntroller will be the sprint button?!?!
Its been said you can peek around corners, so Im confused as to which button its gonna be.
anyone know?

As long as you want I assume, you have to put your firearms down/away? to sprint though.

I'll put money down on the idea that you can probably sprint for about 5 seconds. If you could sprint any longer, CTF matches could end quickly. If it's any shorter, well, that may not be enough.

Ok but take this into consideration the MC can flip a tank over. Why cant he sprint longer than a noraml human. In the books the Spartans can run at about 40 mph. I definantly thing this should be regulated in mp to about 15 seconds of sprint time. this is why past the norm for any human. Micheal Johns and Maurice Greene (olympic sprinters) can only sprint at top speed for about 6 seconds.

Actually, now that I think about it... running for an unlimited amount of time would kind of be unrealistic... 10 - 15 second sounds realistic for the MC... 5 seconds is a bit too short I think.

You have to put your gun down to sprint, so no melee either (as somebody asked).

I think you'd have to have a longer period of recharging, maybe even up to half a minute or more.

I love the idea of sprinting tho. Makes you seem even more like a super soldier.

good question....maybe you move the forward joystick twice and he starts sprinting.

  • 04.14.2004 9:54 AM PDT

But it would be hard to do if your in a covenant battle ship because you will always be running into the walls and other covenants.

That's what I came up with as soon as I thought about it, however, that would result in a lot of accidental sprints..

As soon as you turn you can deactivate the sprint tho. So an accidental sprint wouldnt be too much of a problem
