This is all theoretical, of course.

Thinking about it, though.. I can't imagine a situation in combat where I would need to double press forward on the control stick that fast.

I'd laugh if they implemented tripping if your foot hit something low to the ground XD

Do you think bullet time in Halo would be bad?

True. It really depends on how sensitive they make it.

I remembered activating those special "features" in UC/UT2003 all the time. And those included: 3x forward, 3x backward, 2x left and 2x right..

I was just thinking about that. Not to mention the simple little dodge moves. I've never really accidentally pulled off a dodge move, and that requires a double tap.

I don't know if they'll make us double tap the joystick...It might get to hard, man. I think that all you will have to do is press forward as far as it can go, and then you start sprinting. I also believe that there will be a sprint meter that comes up when you start running. That way, you'll know when you're almost out of energy, and you would be able to watch it regenerate for the next time. Just a few suppositions.

I just about always press the joystick as far as it goes (pushing it less far results in slower movement), that would mean I'd constantly be going in sprints.

The double tap is easy as hell.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I myself have never played a game where you had to double-tap, so I really don't know how hard it would be. If it is double tap, it will probably be really sensitive. And whoever mentioned a dodge: That would be a really nice feature. It would make dodging a Ghost a lot easier.

Which makes me wonder...will we be able to hijack the Ghost in MP???

i dont think there should be sprinting the entire run should be the speed of a sprint. either that or there should be a stamina meter like in diablo2

I wish they made it that you could slightly turn while sprinting, but I guess that would make things complicated =/

double tap seems easy enough for me. Although I'm sure they could disable the 4way pad (next to left joystick) and you push up to run. I always wished you could run half speed when ducking down (pushing in left joystick) but I don't know if they're going to put that into Halo 2 or not. I hope they do.
And if you turn while spriting, that isn't going to help you (since some where saying it'll stop it) cause how are you going to save your own life by running straight? (either forward into the person or directly away) You're still gonna die. You have to be able to turn - if not no one will use it.

i think it would make sense for master cheif to be able to sprint as long as he wanted to. if you have the enemy flag, i think they should be able to sprint up to you and unload double needlers on you. that's what you get for stealing their flag. it would make captures much more difficult and they would require more team strategy. and anyway, vehicles would go faster than cheif can sprint, so just hop in a hog and you don't hafta worry about anyone catching you on foot. also, to those of you who say sprinting only lasts for about 20 seconds: i am on a college track team and i have several friends who sprint a full 400 meters, which for them is around 46-47 seconds. i know for a fact that they could sprint for a minute if they needed to. master cheif is more athletic than any college athlete and he has that armor that enhances his strength, speed, and stamina, so if he could only sprint for a few seconds, i would be suprised. also, it would be pretty balanced, since he would not be able to shoot while sprinting and i'm sure it would take almost a second for him to whip his weapons out when he stops sprinting.

if you ever play slayer with the death bonus on, the maximum speed he attains in that is what i would imagine this sprint would be like. and why would he not be able to turn? i have never heard anyone (besides a few people on this forum) say he wouldn't be able to turn while sprinting.

Using the D-pad.. hmm. That opens up space for more buttons.

Heck, they could use that for picking up weapons in either hand.

You won't be able to turn, so I've read, because (third time) it's only to get out of dangerous situations fast. It'll be handy for sure, especially in singleplayer.

How can you leave the dangerous situation though? What if you have 1 bar of health, no sheild and people are shooting at you, if you run straight, you're gonna get shot badly. You have to be able to turn corners, not being able to would make it pointless.

Well, obviously you start running when you notice things are getting out of controll. Or when you ran into a room the got shot at by a bunch of Elite's for instance, you hadn't expected. Make a 180 and start running.

The not-turning thing is to balance it out, so it has a down-side. Everything needs to be balanced, people tend to forget that.

I know what you mean. I've been on the new forums for a few days (wayyyy more popular than the old ones) and people are forgeting about multiplayer and xbl/xbc. I play both one heck of a lot and I know how bad people can cheat and use things to their advantage. Some will probably master the sprint while others will die trying.

I take it you mean sprint , I think for as long as you want but you have to put your guns away to sprint

Also you can only sprint in a straight line, any change in course will slow you down again. The only thing that worries me about this ability is how it will be activated. There was something said about double tapping in the same direction but i don't think that will work.

We were just speculating about the double tap. That seems a logical way to go, maybe Bungie comes up with something better.
