Subject: Did the trailer make you feel uneasy about Halo 4?

Anti-Teabag self-destruct mechanisms ftw

Yes. Not because of the bloody thrusters but because of the art style. Call me retarded for noticing this but they changed half his armor, removed his codpiece, gave him a -blam!- grenade pistol, made his opening debut look like an action sequence from god of war, and made cortana look retarded.

Don't get me wrong I will buy the game no matter what and they essentially can't go wrong with it but I just really hope that they don't get all retarded on us. I say this only because the trailer looked like they were trying to appeal to a much faster paced CoD crowd.

Nice grammar by the way. And way to sound like a 14 year old. Why insult a random person on a forum? Why not act intelligent and just state what you feel and move on?

The jetpack was never used in Halo 3 and in Ghosts of Onyx the Spartan 3's had to use EVA harnesses on their space op where Kurt is blown off course. Master Chief never used the jetpack to get to the cryo pod at the end of Halo 3. Look at the ending of Halo 3, and watch the Master Chief's back, there are differences. Strange he never used the jetpack in any 3 of the other halos where it woyld have been nice to but this one he can.

The books have obvious discrepencies with the games which makes it not as an enjoyable to a big halo fan. Again, all I'm saying is that they better not have big discrepencies since its a new developer trying to take the halo franchise in a new direction.

They used external EVA equipment when Kurt was kidnapped by ONI because they were all still in Mark IV at that point, remember it was set before Reach fell, and Mark V was only introduced a short time before that point, and even then it didn't have built in EVA equipment, that was introduced on the Mark VI.

The only other opportunity he had where the built in thrusters would have been helpful was the part "Return to Sender" in Halo 2, no use for them at all in Halo 3 so why bother showing them?

So, what is your source that MK. VI has built-in thruster packs? I have asked this many times, and no one has provided one.

You know why? Because there isn't one. Because this is conjecture being stated as fact.

I watched the birth of this whole "Built-in thruster packs!" thing. It started with one user claiming ALL MJOLNIR armor (Mk. V included) had built in thruster packs, using a carefully selected quote from TFoR to support it. Another user then provided the FULL quote, which showed that they were EXTERNAL thruster packs, put on over the armor. At that point, the OP changed gears and claimed that only MK. VI has built in thruster packs, brushing aside all claims to the contrary with hand-wavium about them always being there, but never used. Then, it spread like wildfire, and I'm getting really tired of everyone mindlessly repeating it ad nausium, and getting angry when someone, like me, sets them straight.

These threads are starting to ramble on about nonsense.

"OMGZ, CHEIFZ HADZ A SCRATCH ON HIZ ARMOUR AND NOW ITZ THREE MILLIMETERZ OFF OF WHERZ IT WAZ WHEN HE WENT INZ!! HE MUST HAV UPGRADEDZORZ!!!"

My favorite one is people complaining that Cortana doesn't look the same, yet forgetting what she looked like in Halo: CE and Halo 2.
i guess they just liked the way she looked in halo 3

  • 06.13.2011 12:57 PM PDT

This is Sparta!!! eh I mean Reach ^^

The only reason that trailer made me feel uneasy
Was the fact that i have to wait 18 months
to play halo4. The trailer fullfilef my expectations
That the game starts where the legendary ending
of halo3 ended.
Im sure master chief will starz with his
mark vi suit as default but that u can
Customize it like in the halo reach campaign.
cortana looked in all 3 previous games different.

"teaser" trailer.

It shows aspects of the new game. The fact that he is even in space is irrelevant.

Master Chief with a jetpack even though he went into cryo

You're either really retarded or a troll. This has been explained countless times, and the topic has been beaten to death.

Yet, some of those same people don't care about the MA37 in CEA.

What is your source that they didn't? Theere is no info stating that the Mk. VI doesn't have thruster packs. The Halo 4 Teaser shows that it does.

Frankie confirmed that the guys who made that trailer took a lot of artistic license so that's why everything looks weird. In other words, what you you saw in that trailer does not accurately reflect the final product.

Link? becuase i remember him saying that there is a reason for the change in armor (graphics common sense) but not going into details.

And it was a CGI teaser, not an official trailer.

Do you have a source that says it doesn't?

I know that it came about from a fan's interpretation, but there is no evidence to contradict it, and until we get something official it's better than screaming about it not being line with canon. I'm not saying you're doing that, I'm just saying it's better than that alternative.

Also, how do you know that it (the weapon) wasn't in the Forward Unto Dawn?

Unreal, isn't it?

I'm just sad that it didn't have even nearly the amount of dedication put into it as the trailers Bungie made. + Your points. [OP]

1. Frankie has already explained that, besides the art style, his armor has been changed for story specific reasons which have yet to be explained. I don't even want to think why the removal of the codpiece was necessary, however. *shudders*

2. The pistol had likely already been aboard the Dawn. And I don't see why everyone gets in a fuss over new weapon additions. RL militaries have an extensive number of weapons in service, though only a few are used by the frontline infantry. This (the pistol) was likely used by the crew of the frigate for emergency purposes.

3. Cortana has changed her appearance over the course of each game (the most radical being from CE to Halo 2, with the Halo 4 style looking similar to the CE one).

I'm not going to call you an idiot for having a different opinion (especially since you're at least going to give 343 a chance at it) but I think I must point this out.

  • 06.13.2011 7:13 PM PDT

You guys need to listen to some interviews. Frank said Chief had a new look and it would all be explained, so calm down. He could have been woken up, he was during the trailer, why not again?

But the change from CE to 2 was a good one. Her appearance in the teaser is actually a couple steps back from her appearance in CE.

She looks like a man with boobs and ass implants.

Agreed. The Halo 4 Cortana should either look just like the Halo 3 Cortana with updated graphics or the Halo Reach one with updated graphics (possibly the same model, but I like Reach's colour scheme, it's more faithful to the original Cortana).

  • 06.13.2011 7:24 PM PDT

About the Grenade Launcher Pistol

The original one (in Reach) was adopted by the UNSC back in 2263

Maybe they were making a new one, and have not showed it, or just came up with the idea, like the hornet(halo 3), and the falcon(reach). The DMR was replaced by BR in halo, so this is a possibility.
