Ignore my gamertag. It's actually Dragonzzilla.

During the Halo 4 trailer, he had thrusters. Where those just added or what?

I really don't know what to put here, because it'll end up getting me beat up.

Its a Zero-G thruster, they were mentioned in some of the books. But I'm not sure how exactly haven't read um in forever. My friends are telling me they were installed in the cryo chambers just like the re-entry pack in the sabres.

343 probably will retcon that saying he always had those just never found the time in halo 3 and wasn't thought of in halo 2. Besides what else could those things on his back be? I really wouldn't have a problem of a retcon if it meant new gameplay mechanic.

MRE dispensers.

We'll find out if it's a recton or a new addition once the actual game comes out and the whole story revealed. Sooner if Frankie or someone else elaborates ahead of time. Until then no one can truly say for sure as this is coming from a teaser trailer.

There is currently zero text based evidence in canon at the moment to confirm (key word confirm, not suggest) that the Mk VI armor actually had internal thrusters actually implemented in it.

All Spartans 2's have zero-G thrusters for use in zero-G enviorments.

Zero-G mission snuk in campaign like Sabres in Reach? Yummy!

This. I can't remember very well, but I am sure they were in the Mark IV and V as well.

The Mk IV and V used external packs, not internal.

As someone else said, if they retcon that they were always there, then I wouldn't be mad (in fact, it would actually make a lot of sense).

Am I the only one that thinks that Master Chief could have been woken up once before? Cortana could have given him an armor update or something because she thought if they got in an emergency, they wouldn't have enough time to equip him. It's possible, Frank talked about how his look has changed, and he said they will explain it when the time comes.

in the books they are mentioned as being a external pack.

in the halsey journal, the mark 6 armour is said to include two possibilities.
"Next-gen EVA technology" and "null gravity assist package"
