I am the God Emprah of Mankind.

Deal with it.

I just couldn't help but wonder, how come every time a pelican crashes in Halo the pilot always seems to die. Wouldn't they have some system that fixes that after 30 years of fighting the Covenant? The only time I can think of when a pelican's pilot didn't die is when Master Chief and the Arbiter crashed on Halo in Halo 3. So does Bungie just hate to have pilots live or is something wrong with the pelican's design?

I respect your opinion, I'm probably just going to disagree with it.

Longswords are always crashing, too. Just an easy way to drop gear or scenery into the level without it feeling too controlled, I guess...!

I still think the Pelican would be a real fuel guzzler, too. Other than that, I quite like the design. I do think it's a bit weird that such a 'small' ship can reach orbit, though...

Time to get a drink and watch the world burn. Or deal with it.

The pilots always dying makes a good way to move a plot.

"A LIE is a LIE"

- Truly intelligent and deep Black ops trailer

Its makes for some great plot twists-

"Kilo 23 is down! Kilo 23 is down!"

See? You never expect that kind of dialogue in a FPS action game :P

Brains beats brawn get used to it

Fear the Red Comet

Variety is the spice of life.
Long live games.
Death to all fanboys.

It's one hell of a cliche (or troupe I suppose) for the pilots to always die on impact or in the moments after crash landing it seems. Not just in Halo, but for every piece of fiction involving choppers or some sort of futuristic transport vehicle in games, movies, and books.
