Subject: Who's intentions are more innocent?

"Find where the liar hides, so that I may place my boot between his gums!" - Rtas 'Vadum

The Flood.

Everyone depicts them as some evil horde of monsters, yet they are just a species who is trying to survive, regardless if they were created by the Precursors. Is this not why the humans continued their war against the Covenant despite all odds... for survival?

No. There is a flaw in your argument.

Humanity were causing no harm to the Covenant before the war, nor was there any threat to the Covenant that Humanity was knowingly going to commit. Humanity was not responsible for the problems in the Covenant ideology, it is not their problem. Therefore there is no obligation on Humanity's part to the Covenant and they do not deserve punishment. The Covenant therefore had no real reason to attack Humanity other than to preserve a lie. Therefore Humanity had every right to protect its existence against this threat. They were in the right, the Covenant in the wrong.

The difference with the Flood is that their existence is a deliberate threat to other people. No one else is threatening the Flood, so there is no reason for them to do what they do based on self-defence. A similar situation would be this:

A man is in dire need of a heart transplant. If he does not receive this he will die. Is it acceptable for him to pay a bunch of rogue medical personal to abduct a perfectly healthy, innocent person off of the streets, rip out their heart (Thus killing them in the process) and implant that heart into the dieing rich man so that he can survive? I would not think so, because this is not the problem of that innocent person. They are not responsible for the rich man's condition. The same goes for the Flood. Others should not be made to suffer for your own problems.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

LOL ONI...

I say Master Chief, since he's for good.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

I have to go so i sadly won't be able to keep up with this.

But the flood are doing what they "were made to do" or atleast that is how the gravemind makes it seem, as if this is their purpose and they are being punished for it.

when you take that into perspective it is completely different.

There is nothing innocent about the flood taking over every creature in existence for the sake of existing. Nobody wants to be an unwilling slave to the plant creature from little shop of horrors. Master Chief only wants mankind to thrive and have no enemies. If it weren't for the prophets, the Covenant wouldn't have existed and there would be no genocide of man.

I agree.. to an extent.
To gain knowledge we as humans document, research and record facts. Humanity uses knowledge to survive.

The flood on the other hand feel that they NEED to know all knowledge b/c they are in fact a living AI... please correct me if im wrong but from what ive read...the flood are in fact a living AI. Sad part is, to get their knowledge they basically have to absorb it...they have no choice but to survive.. they are just.. a flood. If you drown in water.. is the water committing homicide? lol

The flood indeed seem to have the more innocent intent here.
But i'm still open, Master Chief is just taking orders but did he HAVE to kill the grunts, he only had to kill the forces that were stopping him.. Grunt vs. MC is hardly a fight (as we all know)

*points and laughs at the Grunt holding the Energy Sword.

btw, the only reason i put ONI up there is b/c someone (NOT MYSELF :O) may think that ONI's intentions are to keep humanity safe. Which i'm sure someone can argue.. if they really wanted to defend ONI. ONI doesn't need your lols.. though i lold everytime one of you did :P

I did make a mistake of putting the covenant up there, i should have just put the "Sangheili" as their intentions do seem to be pure at this point if not human.
