Imagine a triangle. It's perfect, but a little plain. You take a chisel, and carve a small decorative symbol into it to make it a little more interesting. People like it, but it could use a little more.

So you then take a sledgehammer..

Humans might be reluctant to give up the Mantle, so that might lead to war.

read cryptum.

Forerunners and ancient man were on the same technological level and humanity was one of the very very few races to avoid forerunner control.

Because of that the forerunners grew to despise them due to them being on the same level.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

It's a long complicated story, one that is still being created. Read Halo: Cryptum at your local bookstore or go to Halopedia to get a general understanding on the relations between Forerunners and Humans at this point.

Though i am in line with the idea that humanity is to have this theoretical and hypothetical mantle; no canon evidence supports that they had it therefore you are wrong.

that does kinda makes sence..

then why did the forerunners bring back humans after the halo array fired? (those robots .. whatever.. they were programmed by the forerunners)

This is Sparta!!! eh I mean Reach ^^

Humans were in the stone age 100.000 years ago
when all halo rings were fired to stop
The flood infection.
If there would be war between humand
and forerunners then it surely would
be caused by mankind.
Why? Because our race has been violent
since we existed.
Watch halo legends origins 1 and 2
And u will find the answer.

Just becuase you don't like something doesn't mean you want to kill it. they just wanted to stay number 1 or avoid being control themselves which is completely understandable actually.

that will be explained in full soon. we know they didn't kill them off because man was able to stop the flood and forerunners couldn't. though later down the road the librarian found something in modern man that explain something.

cryptum 2-3 will explain all of this.

We will know soon enough, but it will require thought. Deep thought. Mendicant Bias must be found. The Mantle will soon follow.

Off-topic:Actually, I'll bet you don't know a quarter of it. The Halo universe is extremely vast - details procured in the most articulated ways possible, in the most minute crevices of story. Even I don't think I know nearly half of it, and I could damn well write my own book from what I know. If the expansion of the story continues at the rate it's been, it could very well become a viable study of sorts, on a moderate scale (though any real use would be hard to scavenge from said study in reality).

On-topic:
Humans and Forerunners were at war prior to the first firing of the Halo Array. Humans (roughly on a near-equal technology tier to Forerunners) were being pushed (by the newly-discovered Flood of the time) into Forerunner space, and war broke out due to it (more specific details are available in "Halo: Cryptum"). The Humans were fighting (at the very least) a war of three fronts; Human, Flood, and Forerunner. The fact the Humans were able to withstand such a war confirms their supposed technology tier at that time, and also exhibits Human perseverance as many sci-fi fans have come to know it in multiple series, including Halo.

The Didact was a master at Human obliteration during these wars, as well. Then again, he was Forerunner (likely one of the most bad-ass Forerunners to live), so obliteration came to both him and his species with near-natural ease, however also immense sorrow. He seems as though he didn't want to attack so many, but he was somehow able to plow through the feeling as the war progressed.

Let's hope, should the Forerunners make a return in Halo 4, they'll be a little friendlier than the last time we met. Even with our technology so advanced at that time, it wasn't enough. We can only guess as to the speed of our annihilation by them in 2553, our technology as ill-advanced as it is.

But isn't that the reason only we can activate the Halo rings?

D: If you were quoting a dalek then you messed up the quote! :P

"This isn't war! This is *merely PEST CONTROL!"

Ontopic: Basically, Forerunners were big bullies, in our ancestors time of need, they were forced into territory they never wanted to enter. Forerunners get mad for them being on their lawn, pulls out the good old 10000+ warship armada, and literally blasts us back into the stone age.

P.S. Read Crytum, its a really good book nether the less.

I was comparing it to the fact that it wouldn't even be considered that. And you forgot a couple of zeros.

A big flat LOL to the Spacebattles forums where somebody is arguing that [BSG] Galactica could hold it's own against a Fortress-class warship.
