Subject: Which Halo was the worst?

Team Unicorns all the way!

Halo Wars...it's the only Halo game I actually hate and got rid of. I love all the others for different reasons. My personal list is...

1. Halo CE

2. Halo 2

3. Halo Reach

4. ODST

5. Halo 3

ODST had the worst story-line which is what I look forward to in a Halo game.

it had more characterization in one level than reach had in nine.

Haha, so very true. ODST was very good, and had its own amazing personalized style of gameplay.

My list is exactly the same, although I'm not sure if I like Reach or ODST more. ODST was awesome, and I loved being able to play as an ODST, plus I loved how Buck, Dutch, and Mickey were all voiced by actors who played in Firefly and Serenity, Buck even being designed to look like Nathan Fillion, but Reach you were a Spartan, although you were a b1tch Spartan, and the new change to gameplay was cool. The story was overall the worst in my opinion. Halo 3 looked very good and had a cool story, but as my friend brought to my attention when Reach came out, Halo 3 is the only Halo game that didn't bring anything new to the experience.

play to win and dont settle for less

oh come on obviously halo 3 odst was the worst.this is just wrong. and this has to be based on the story. cause odst doesent have MM. if based on story then reach is matched with any other halo game.

I love them all equally.

I was going to include Halo Wars, but I didn't think it was necessary since it wasn't good and isn't an FPS. So, what do you think?

I myself did not vote, that way the poll is less biased.

What do I think, Halo Wars was to console RTS as Halo CE was to console FPS. Just because you didn't like it, doesn't mean to say that others didn't aswell.

Maybe you should change your title to "Which Halo FPS was the worst"
Personaly, I prefer Halo Wars over Reach.

no. nonono

I say Halo: Reach, not because I hate the game (I still love it), but it isn't up to the standard of the other Halos.

  • 06.15.2011 3:11 AM PDT

-Seriously, who uses a signature?

odst is horrible only good for halo 3 multiplayer and FF.

Halo 2 for Life!

halo reach and halo 3 were almost equally bad (slight edge to reach) and i don't consider odst as a game.

Halo 2 for Life!

silly ce lovers will always be hating h2 for introducing a superior game in terms of MP online.

h3 was bad because it lacked speed and button combos and lag prevention measures like large hit boxes and aim assist and so failed for me online, it was slow and didn't reward those that practiced button combos.

etc.

ce are saying the button combos ruined halo or that modding ruined halo or superbouncing or whatever but all of these were really fun and modding wasn't even allowed in MM.

sped the game up and for the slow ce players I guess that was annoying lol JK well sort of JK. I do think some of the ce people can't handle the fast gameplay h2 had and no other halo had ever.

I am a car buff that enjoys racing 'Hogs and 'gooses, Favorite weapon combination: Sniper rifle/SMG. I excel at flushing out enemies.

I don't understand why everyone is being critical against reach. It's a great game. You have more customization, more realistic game elements, more game modes, and stunning graphics. Plus, Reach is waaaaay better than black ops.

halo 3 was the worse halo game beause it didnt bring anything new, it was just a graphically updated halo 2 with a new story and new multiplayer maps

New maps + new story = something new.

Your hate for CE enthusiasts is shocking! Halo 2's multiplayer was NOT considered to be "fast gameplay." I've spent a lot of my time playing CE, and once Halo 2 came out, I wasn't blown away. They dumbed down multiplayer gameplay, eliminating the skill that was required in Halo CE to open up a bigger fanbase. It was easy to be good in Halo 2. Not so much in Halo CE.

And to claim modding didn't happen in Halo 2 MM just cracks me up. I saw plenty of it.

Talking campaign

Halo 1 does things differently. It's clunky perhaps, less refined in places but that seems to be one of the reasons it works- it feels altogether more heavy

Halo2 is an excellent game but there is lots that spoil it. Get past what you don't initially like and there is much to enjoy here- providing you can handle those Jackals

Halo3 is amazing in places and for some of it's levels but these levels are either too short or sometimes badly realised regards to encounters. You can't skip the bloody Cortana and Gravemind cutscenes which is a nightmare when all you want to do is run through the level again and again. The stuff that's good is really good, and the rest less so

Odst has some of the shortest levels but is such a terrific game when you give it a chance. The music is superb as is the atmosphere. Short maybe but it's so very unique. Get over the fact you're disapointed it's not what you wanted from it and it then becomes something very special

Reach is very good actually but you have to play it for the game it is and not the Halo game you were expecting. It feels almost like it isn't a Halo game at times but some of the levels are quite superb. Just one level in fact is pure gold if you are of a mind to play it many times. I can think of many places where encounters are badly done however or are over far too quickly which is a shame

Halo1 shall remain the purest most wonderfull Halo experience - even now when i play it - but despite each of the sequels all being flawed in some way, they are all worth putting serious time into. I put each of these sequels into a different category to Halo1 if i'm honest- that being the Halo universe category. Halo remains a more personal experience for me so i like to enjoy as a seperate universe

I would say that despite how exceptional the combat can be in Reach, it puts it's foot wrong too much. As a game it is often very good but then there is so much seemingly untested regards to some design encounters that beg the question if maybe they cared a little less towards the end

Halo2 is vastly more flawed i would say and less of the experience i expected of it, but it does at least feel have a Halo ish feel as well which helps me enjoy that experience more

Reach then i would say unfortunately is the game that lets it's fans down more. It is a good game though and people really shouldn't right it off on the basis it's doesn't push all those right buttons

"Living in the past is a luxury none of us can afford..."
"I know what the ladies like..."

I liked Reach except for the fact that they screwed with a big part of the storyline. Other than that I think it was a good way of bringing the games full circle. To those who say it didn't feel like Halo, look at it this way, it wasn't part of the trilogy and it wasn't meant to have the same, exact gameplay. Bungie has been wanting to try something different for many years already, let em' do what they want. And story wise Bungie can do whatever the hell they want with a video game universe THEY CREATED. I think them screwing with the story line was the equivalent of giving 343i the bird. And that, I like.

  • 06.15.2011 1:00 PM PDT

As a game, Reach is very good. Plenty i could pick at regards to things i don't like but there is plenty good here too

Gamers tend to right off games very quickly so in that sense a game like ODST and Reach stand less of a chance. I had to play these games a lot before i was more accepting of them

I don't understand why people hate on ODST or even consider it separately from Halo 3, consider it ran on the same engine and half of the content was maps for Halo 3. I like the Firefly stuff, and I liked Firefight enough for the $60 to seem reasonable. [/shrug]

I do understand the reason people voted against Halo 2. It indeed was rushed, glitchy and very exploited by modders and such. I also very much wish they had an extra year to fit in more of the deleted material, levels, etc. However, I personally, despite it all, very much enjoyed the game. The crazyness of the glitches, easter eggs, supper jumps, and the good mods were much of the draw for me, and particularly my friends, who mostly agree that 2 was the best. Also, Halo 2 deserves credit for beating everyone else over the fence and becoming the daddy of online multiplayer for consols.

I don't understand why people hate Reach, or consider it an 'abomination'. I enjoyed just about every bit of it, the excellent customization in every possible way, the beautiful look, the varied campaign...it seemed to me to be something new and fresh for Halo without being to off so as to be unrecognizable. The moaning about bloom also seems...silly, I guess, as all bloom really does is give you a visual representation of bullet spread, which has existed in a stealthier fashion in previous games. I also is the most realistic Halo game yet, and perhaps even more realistic than CoD games in terms of physics and such.

I also cannot fathom why people bring in Halo Wars into the discussion. It's an RTS (and a very good one especially considering how difficult it is to make an RTS for anything but PC) not a FPS, they aren't the same type of game at all, it's just not a comparison. Apples to oranges.

I have to say that personally, I got the least enjoyment out of Halo 3 compared to all other Halo games. The feel wasn't there, the maps didn't feel as good, and while the features were nice, Reach basically took all of the features that 3 had and then did them better. It's just how I feel about it.

  • 06.15.2011 1:23 PM PDT

I still have not given my own vote, but I have my own reasons for liking all the Halo games. I can say that CE and ODST are free from my vote, so its between H2, H3, and Reach. However, there are so many points made by so many people that have continued my indecisiveness with coming to a conclusion.

Halo 2 brought some amazing multiplayer experiences, as well as the more majestic way they portrayed the Delta Halo ring.

Halo 3 was much prettier and shinier, and I liked the whole story wrapping up to getting back Cortana, but the multiplayer wasn't AS great as we expected.

Halo Reach, was a great game as a solo game, but I just didn't like how weak it made you feel, as with the story revolving around Spartan IIIs instead, which didn't add up very well with the Ghosts Of Onyx book that came up way before.
