John117 is Galactus
Galactus is God

King Arthur was a legendary British leader, who, according to Medieval histories and romances, led the defence of Romano-Celtic Britain against Saxon invaders in the early 6th century.

It is also said that Arthur was one of the Nine Worthies, tapestry.. does this sound parallel to the "nine MJOLNIR Mark IV cyborgs"?

Some even say that King Arthur didn't even exist or that he ist just that of legend.

Also i found this interesting.. King Arthur was believed to have lived in the 6th century...while Master Chief is believed to live in the 26th century.

I'm sure there are more facts connecting the 2 other than the fact that John-117's fate parallels King Arthur's. He sleeps (in a cryotube) on a mysterious island (Ship), until the day when he is needed. ("Wake me when you need me.")

I've always connected John and everything else to biblical stories but I have seemed to notice that there are many stories in the medieval times that also reflect on the bungie universe.

What do you guys think?

Please sir...Do your own research instead of asking questions that a real Bungie fan could easily answer.
How else are you going to learn about the Bungie Universe? Do you just read everything on the forums? Halopedia is a nice tool to use.

Eh not everyone in this forum is a "real bungie fan".

But i bet you took that info from Marathon like you always did in these weeks.

If so then you can close this thread as Halo won't have any connections with Marathon anymore

Hint:343 industries and microsoft
Marathon symbol is officially removed from the Halo verse

Stop trying to conenct the two.

Are you guys serious?
Where in this thread did i state that Halo=Marathon?
You've already judged me from posts yet you have not realized that I support many thoughts that prove Marathon has nothing to do with the halo universe.
I make threads to get people thinking, so you post your thoughts and i can have more research material.
Go get a life, get a job, a wife, have a kid or two, gtfo of the basement. If you're here to make fun of people you're just proving how immature you are. But who knows, you probably haven't even hit puberty yet.
At least i have a college degree, go get something done and read before you talk or just keep your mouth shut.
It doesn't pay to be impolite, not even in the Bungie Universe.

WHATS UP EVERYBODY

I do like that people compare the HALO Universe to our own real religion and legend, because most of it comes together quite nicely. I understand where your coming from, comparing the two, John is sort of a "Crusader". The only thing that throws me off is the "nine mark VI spartans".

NVM.. i just found out that the "Nine Mark IV cyborgs are from Marathon.....

Doubtful that you even possess the college degree. Now, I'm doubting that you're actually adult.

Let me explain something to you kid.

Marathon is not connected with Halo universe. Do you understand, boy? And that theory is dumb too, you have no proof to back it up. Oh wait, there's a thread devoted to trying to connect Marathon and Halo that you made...

You're nothing more than a raging troll. Meh, nice try. I'll grant you a 1/10.

EDIT: "nine Mark IV Cyborgs" is from Marathon, derp.

Of course i know.. how else do you think i know of it. But i wasn't trying to connect halo to marathon, just John 117, who is indeed a mark IV cyborg, to King Arthur.

I'm simply showing that it DOES fit in pretty nicely just like the gentleman of this thread stated. Just b/c i was able to connect something form marathon to a theory i have about john 117 being king arthur doesn't mean that was the intention.
If you knew about the "nine Mark IV Cyborgs", you would know that Marathon Man is actually the tenth member of the group.. so to answer any questions.. i was NOT trying to connect this to marathon. You're just judging me on past posts. If you're going to judge me you should read all of my posts. You will find that i have changed my mind on many theories ive had b/c certain POLITE people have proved me wrong with flawless proof.

@raganok99, you're adorable.

14 years old and proud.

Halo has too many references to count. No point in trying to keep track of them all. OP seems plausible.

John isn't a Mark IV cyborg. The nine Mjolnir Mark IV cyborgs are part of the Marathon universe, not Halo universe. John is a Spartan II. Only thing that relates him in any way to those nine cyborgs is that he used Mjolnir Mark IV armor prior to 2552.

If anything the nine Mjolnir Mark IV cyborgs from Marathon are reference to the Nine Worthies and Mjolnir Recon number 54 is reference to king Arthur. Bungie always likes to put lots of references into their games.

You just stated everything i stated... I know john was a spartan II wearing Mjolnir Mark IV armor, WHY DO YOU THINK I SAID IT >.>

Mjolnir Recond number 54 isn't a reference to king Arthur b/c he is the TENTH.. while king arthur was one of the 9. I already stated that the worthies and the cyborgs were.. wait.. dude why did you even say anything? lol

seems like you're connecting Marathon, Halo and bungie's love of references into a bizarre love triangle.

I was simply stating that you are throwing Halo into this with no real reason. I don't see Halo relating to King Arthur in any way. Mjolnir Mark IV armor in Halo refers to Mjolnir Mark IV cyborgs from Marathon. The nine cyborgs may refer to the Worthies, but this doesn't mean Master Chief would be related to these Worthies in any way. Simply put: If A refers to B and B refers to C, it doesn't mean A automatically refers to C too.

There are references there, certainly.

But that's all they are.

Yep.

You're not the first to draw a comparison between the two characters. People have been comparing John with figures from history, myths and religion for years - Jesus Christ, King Arthur etc.

Those neat references add depth to the fiction, and of course, lead to discussion and debate.

  • 06.15.2011 11:24 AM PDT

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Yes, Chief and Arther do have some similarities, specifically when both are laid to rest until they are needed again. However, it's only an allegory and they are not the same person.

What's wrong with discussion and debate? It's a good workout for the brain.

And OBVIOUSLY they are not the same person, im sorry if that's what you think i was implying haha. But maybe you can get a clue of the future.. by looking at the past.

Even in the halo canon, is there a reference to, "history repeats"

Oh boy, hang on.

I was stating "discussion" and "debate" as good points. As a developer, you know you're creating good fiction when people are actively discussing it. They're excellent things, and that's why the Forums are here to facilitate fans with the services to discuss everything Halo.

I apologise if my first post indicated that I thought you were saying John and King Arthur were the same person - it was more directed at people who would think, themselves, that was what you were saying.
