-Seriously, who uses a signature?

i was watching Heart of the Midlothian on Waypoint and i realized... wouldnt an energy sword cauterize the wound it inflicts? actually wouldnt all plasma weapons do this?

no. totally different. one is a state of matter. the other just happens to share the same name.

Good point, the same could be said about Lightsabers. The fact that it's quarterised means they won't bleed (as much), but there is still a wound there that can lead to possible death.

Boil up water. Notice how it steams? Now imagine the process sped up massively, the water is your blood. Inside your body.

yes but that doesnt mean it wont close up the wound upon exiting, which this thread is about.

Halopedia mentions cauterization- I'd post a quote, but all I'm getting is "* The text contains extended characters that are not allowed." >.>

you have to remember that burnt tissue isn't as "stable" as healthy tissue (i don't know how to put this better in english). it will break and fall apart.

since a plasma/energy sword is (propably) a lot hotter than modern tools used to cauterize (small) wounds it wouldn't just cauterize the tissue in close vicinity, it would burn a whole lot more than necessary (to cauterize), resulting in a much bigger wound full of burnt tissue, which will rupture/break apart and let the fluids fly.

i have never once thought about this.

an excellent point and well made

lightsabers did cauterise wounds, hense why anakin didnt die in ep 3. and if that needs a spoiler tag, you never watched ep 4 - 6 first as intended.

and why darth maul didnt make a mess everywhere when obi wan dissected his bi*** arse.

that one is only due to movie ratings. now matter how hot a blade is: if you cut a human being in half, his organs will fall out.
