bah

No, not the enemy in Halo, the flood of noobs we're going to get now that a release date is confirmed. It is going to happen, and we need to be prepared. need stuff like links for Halo 2 goodness and the like. Also, we need to just prepare ourselves for an experience similar to the one we just had with the new B.net going up. It'll probably be like that all over again for a while. Ugh...

I don't that there will be such a large flood of new members just from a release date. Most new members probably don't have a clue as to when Halo 2 will be released.

I'm hoping the effect of E3 won't be too bad. At least we've pretty much adjusted to the new system, and it's almost perfect now (SEARCH).

Yes but Reiginkokeep in mind that now everyone knows. ALL the retailers are going to get there hands on this, since IGN has, now all the retailers do and now the general public knows. Isnt the world just small? *its a small world after all*

Yeah, but I doubt many people are going to join b.net just because H2 has a release date. Most people who really care about the game are already members, and if we do get a flood, it'll probably be because of the hype that E3's creating (ie other than the release date).

Officium quod Fidelitas.

Well if we get the 7CC up and running with totally awesome events, then people will have a reason to join!

And hopefully it'll be set up before all those people join!

You nailed the nail on the haed. It's the release date that causes the influx, it's the fact that retailers now have a solid date to advertise. "Halo 2! Nov. 5!" Will be lining the walls at places that sell games. As someone in the advertising division of Microsoft said, with a firm release date, advertising and getting the wrd out becomes a lot easier. This advertising will create a huge influx of Halo 2 searches on Google, and guess what site comes up in the number one spot when you enter in Halo 2 at Google? Bungie.net of course! Not to mention some people will enter in Bungie as a search and get the same result in the top spot.

And that's just the advertising effect of the release date. Imagine what will happen when Halo 2 takes best game at E3, and we all know it should. It has made much more progress in the last year that its 2 main compeditors, Doom 3 and Half-Life 2. Tons more progress. And with it being playable, there is no doubt that everyone who gets a chance to play will think it deserves top spot!

All of this adds up too one thing, the flood of new people after E3 will be huge. Maybe not as big as with the new B.net, but I ask you, where did all of these new people hear about B.net being new? Was it while watching TV and seeing an ad for Halo 2? Probably not. Since before E3, there were no ads for halo 2.

Look on the bright side: if we get a large following, isn't bungie taking over the world faster?

As for myself: I'm new to the forums, but by no means a noob.

"Halo 2! Nov. 5!"
"Halo 2! Nov 9!"

Oh, they're still going to mess up the release date; I don't give them that much credit!

The more user's the better. All the new guys since the new B.net are better now. Not all of them ask stupid questions now. And since we "trained" all of those new guys, they can help us out on the other crowd of new guys. Plus having more people is always a good thing. Just think more fans= more people that might be on xbox live playing halo2. YES.

Alright, I guess that makes sense.

I think they did prepare the forums nicely, like adding 10 more and getting a new system.
