Yeah, but I doubt many people are going to join b.net just because H2 has a release date. Most people who really care about the game are already members, and if we do get a flood, it'll probably be because of the hype that E3's creating (ie other than the release date). You nailed the nail on the haed. It's the release date that causes the influx, it's the fact that retailers now have a solid date to advertise. "Halo 2! Nov. 5!" Will be lining the walls at places that sell games. As someone in the advertising division of Microsoft said, with a firm release date, advertising and getting the wrd out becomes a lot easier. This advertising will create a huge influx of Halo 2 searches on Google, and guess what site comes up in the number one spot when you enter in Halo 2 at Google? Bungie.net of course! Not to mention some people will enter in Bungie as a search and get the same result in the top spot.
And that's just the advertising effect of the release date. Imagine what will happen when Halo 2 takes best game at E3, and we all know it should. It has made much more progress in the last year that its 2 main compeditors, Doom 3 and Half-Life 2. Tons more progress. And with it being playable, there is no doubt that everyone who gets a chance to play will think it deserves top spot!
All of this adds up too one thing, the flood of new people after E3 will be huge. Maybe not as big as with the new B.net, but I ask you, where did all of these new people hear about B.net being new? Was it while watching TV and seeing an ad for Halo 2? Probably not. Since before E3, there were no ads for halo 2.
