I'd like to get the scoring achievements in Halo 3 as I haven't gotten them yet, but I'm debating how I should go about getting them.

I found an old article here on Bungie that gives pretty in-depth advice already, but I'm still not clear on some things:

http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&link =h3campaign

First what I want to know is, how many people do you need for these achievements? Do you need a full group, or more than one person? Does it help out to have more people? I could try it on my own but I'm a little rusty at Halo 3 right now, and I'm also not sure if one person can possibly rack up that high of a score alone.

I was thinking of playing the campaign on heroic with about two skulls on, like the article suggests. I still haven't decided which skulls I will be using, but I am pretty sure I will avoid Catch, Black Eye and Iron. Unless I absolutely need them for these achievements.

Will this be enough?

And how challenging is it, in your own opinion, to reach that achievement score on each level? Does it really take all you've got to get them, is it fairly simple to obtain from regular scoring play, or is it somewhere in between? Maybe some levels are much more difficult than others?

I also noticed that one level in the game has a much higher score requirement than the others. I am assuming this is a level with a lot of enemies and a lot of opportunity for points, perhaps the scorpion level? Idk.

But anything else anyone can recommend would be appreciated. Maybe you remember using some tactic to get through things, and maybe a certain combination of skulls and game difficulty worked better for you than what I am considering.

Any response will be greatly appreciated. I'm looking forward to playing the Halo 3 campaign again sometime.

You can do it in a group or alone. It's easier alone, as each person you have with you means you get less points.

From my experience, playing on Normal with 4-5 skulls on is plenty. Fog, Catch, Tough Luck, Famine. Those are the easiest skulls. Perhaps thunderstorm after that. If you do that, it's easier than just playing on Heroic. Each milestone for each achievement is pretty easy to get with that- you can die 20 times and still get them. Course, it's easy enough to where you'll only die once if that just about!

The Ark and the Covenant are the two levels with 50k requirements as opposed to 15k for the other levels. Why? Because vehicles give you huge bonuses. And both levels have a ton of vehicles. Again, neither is difficult in the slightest.

But yeah. If you play on Normal with those 4-5 skulls on, you can pretty much just play the campaign like normal. No special effort required.

Hmm, I may give that a try.

I do want to ask though, if you play in co-op and have on team scoring doesn't everyone's points count together?

Yup. I did an Vidmaster Annual run with a pro team, and we finished with iron on in about 15 minutes. All our points were added together, and we got huge time bonuses and iron bonuses. But its easier to do these by yourself, because you don't have teammates who will die, which keeps your score up. Either way these aren't too difficult.

Using team scoring the points add up, but you won't get the achievement unless you have the requirement individually. That's why you should do it alone and in FFA scoring. Because if teammates get kills, they're taking points that you need. And if you don't reach the requirement yourself, you won't get it even if they do.
