Well it doesn't really look flashy.....

Just well a little weirder than out standard look you know start, list of programs etc etc. It's been like that for many os's already.

They look similar, but mac osx sucks. Its too user friendly, almost like its intended for little kids.

...and how is that a bad thing?

I don't know about you, but I'd rather have a simple, easy-to-use OS than one that looks intimidating.

But Windows isn't all that bad, though. At least I can say its no virus. Viruses are small and efficient. ^_~

Oh, and Haloman? Your enthusiasm is awesome and appreciated at the forum, just try to combine different threads into one. Thanks!

Thanks, this is my first account on any any ANY ANY ANY forum in my entire life. I've been reading many many forums but now I've changed from just reading to first time poster. I'm looking to make a good impression of being incredibly active, making good posts and good comments and hoping to make the forum extremely active. Well, actually with the new news i say this section of the forum has returned back from the grave!!!!

Also i know, I plan on trying to make really good threads, but again sorry on the graphic help thing, but i really do need the help.enthusiasm

I'm just a 13 year old who isn't annoying and immature lol,I guess that's where my enthasiam come from. I've been playing games since i was well what 5 or something with the orginal doom, then with like playing WC3 all the time, but sometimes i can be really annoying when I get furious, LOL.

OS X may be user-friendly, but that doesn't mean it isn't powerful. You can use your mac entirely in the UNIX command line if you like, and do some real nerd stuff that geeks have wet dreams about.

Also, this thread doesn't belong in The Maw.

Nahhh well I've used Mac OS X, and I haev to say it's really simple which is a good thing, but it isn't too simple. When you turn the OS on after just moving around the mouse a couple of seconds of exploring and your off just like that, no instruction manual or anything, you get the OS and after that your off and ready to use it.

Its just really annoying. It feels like its targeted for little kids. Everything is so "bubbly" and dont get me started on the mouse....

Also, the machines suck to begin wth. Theyre also not to great to game with.

TMH1988-

A friend once told me his take on the Mac vs. Windows question:

On a Mac, if you want to hang a picture, you hammer a nail. In windows, first you design and build a hammer– for each nail, every time.

Oh, and the reason Windows looks like OS X is because Microsoft always copies Apple.

the new ui is all nice and stuff. but im not into that. Im into the archaic harsh lines and definate borders. I liek to see a rigid structure and be able to chage it's colors to whatever I want *I hated that I couldnt change the hue of the new style, 3 colors sucks*

[rant]One thing I have notices is that under the preview screen for the ui colors *in me and xp I think* certain things dont work. the highlight color doesnt work, there is no preview for icon spacing, ITS BROKEN!!! [/rant]

ah well, everything now is "FuTuRiStIc" and needs to be small and white!?!

The new intel imacs are reviewed as excellent gaming platforms. Vista isn't being made "for mac", it just happens to run under IFF instead of BIOS, and intel macs support IFF. When a windows OS runs on an intel imac, that mac instantly becomes a top of the line gaming machine. Because so many games are made for windows OS, that the computer barrier is broken, eliminating the "macs don't have enough game titles" downside that has plagued macs for years. macs actually ran the first, and most, commercially available computer video games. How this role got reversed, i don't know if i'll ever know.

PS. anyone who thinks that Mac OSX looks babyish deserves a virus infection! :P It's simply not true! It looks very professional. It's cleaner and less cluttered than the fancy flourishes and odd background colors (win XP!) or blocky, dull boxes (win 9x, 200!)of the currently available windows OSes..

It's kinda odd that the new OS looks a lot like Mac OS X, its really similar. Well i guess they're looking for a more futuristic look. Or since Windows Vista is gonna be on some Macs that Mircosoft wanted it to look like Mac OS X, to please the Mac users. What are your ideas/theories on this.

Also please lets keep this thread serious, no flaming or anything please lets be serious people, alright!

If it's good doing once, it's good doing twice...
That the MAc OSX has had little to no impact on features and design of vista, would be ridiculous.

yeah, don't use newbs, but rather call them FNGs.
Remember the Apple II? the IIgs? DOS?
ok, So Apple has much more limited exposure to viruses by being passed over as a target for virus makers. IntelMacs, will get more games down the line. The apps are migrating support towards the future, duh. If Vista invites more virus jerks towards Apple.... that would suck. I hate when the apps spread out all them files in seemingly random folders that cannot be easily located as part of one App. The too often abbreviated names are a irritant too. Cookies..... shove them up your -blam!-'n ass. Your pathetic business does not need to know jack -blam!-. disable. disable. disable. do not allow. intruding bastards.

I'd like to get a 2nd or 3rd gen IntelMacMini for gaming on HDTV with WiFi; direct video to HDTV; direct music to stereo jukebox. Oh, it has an OS with apps too. Sony? XBL? Oh I remember them... XBL wore away user control while inviting too many immature members, and Sony had servers only in Japan....

I have seen Windows Vista running. Now, yes I will here the flaming, but I have seen because my best-friends father is a computer engineer at Matrox and is working on developing drivers for video cards that are compatible with Vista. Vista is pretty much like a "12 foot thick steel vault". There is no more blue-screen since the OS now allows you to repair whatever you need to do, even if critical, without going to safe mode. The OS will severe the link with the "bad" connection. If someone tries to hack or a virus tries to infect you, the OS will actually make a copy of whatever it's going after and once whatever reaches what it wants, the OS quarantines it and deletes it or terminates the connection from a hacker.

Entirely 3D interface. Capability to actually bend the windows in whatever fashion you see fit, make them transparent, etc.

So all you haters out there, don't start -blam!-ing when you haven't seen it run for yourself.

Ive heard that alot actualy, some people say that a mac is easier to develop with. I would agree that graphics wise the mac is better for developers, but going back to the near top of this forum, "if you want to hang a picture on a mac you use a hammer and nail, if u want to hang a picture in windows you make a hammer and nail each and everytime". This isnt true seeing as how bill gates the same man who created windows created QBasic and this is a programming language that focuses on being able to make arrays and tools that can be called on when needed. The other issues are that vista will look to futuristic. I agree XP is ugly and personaly i think that all mac OS are ugly. But i dont think is will be possible for vista to be ugly if its going to be a fully 3D OS.

But they run Dual core intels and ATI cards!! Single core processors outperform their multicored cousins in almost every game on the market because they don't support multithreading yet, and as anyone with any gaming history knows, ATI cards are inferior to their nVidia counterparts in everything but antialiasing.

If it's good, it's worth copying!
... although since they're both unix based, and users tend to want the same things on either side of the platform there are going to be lots of similarities no matter what.
