i find predators more badass than elites personally, but im not sure who would win in a fight
-they are both clan-based
-they both have cloaking tech.
-they both have plasma weaponry
-they both have cool mandibles
-and their both really strong

It'll be a good fight, thats what I know.

Elite have more numbers but if it's a 1v1, I have to give it to the Predator, although...Elites do come close...Not sure.

  • 06.15.2011 6:45 PM PDT

Are you kidding? Elites win hands down. Elites are as strong as a spartan 2 without augmentations, allowing them to flip warthogs and the like. Predators have never and will never show anything near this kind of strength. Secondly, the Predator would be slaughtered close range as his puny wrist blades and spear will do nothing to a sangheili's energy sword. If it is a long range encounter, we may as well give a plasma rifle to the elite. This beast spews molten slag at a much faster rate than the predator weapon, and if we go by canon to unarmored flesh it can literally burn right through. The predators would cower at the feet of a Sangheili warrior, no doubt.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

The Predator would see the Elite coming from miles away with his thermal vision, even if said Elite had active camouflage. And people seem to forget that the Predator has a plasma caster, which is pretty much a super cannon.

If you hold Elites comparable to Spartans, then flipping Warthogs is strictly a gameplay mechanic. At most an Elite with armour on will be able to power lift just over 600kg. (From taking what Spartans can lift, which is described in detail in TFoR) A Warthog weighs 3250kg...

I am a fan of both but, elites are just flat out badass. They have cloaking, BETTER plasma weapons, and ENERGY swords.

Predators have cloaking, regardless of rank, their plasma caster can blow you to bits if it hits you and they have nigh indestructible weapons (their constrictor net for example). From the moment and Elite grabs their Energy Sword handle, the Predator has already thrown his bladed disk.

"I am Scourge, Leader of BloodClan, and I have won!"

Elites because canon wise there as strong as a spartan II and that their tehcnology is better.

"I'm sorry man, I don't even know why I got in on this side... SHOTGUN!!!"

Predators.

They use infrared vision as well as many other spectrums thanks to their mask.

Most of their weapons are melee-based and move at a slow enough velocity to bypass shields on a Sangheili combat harness/MJOLNIR armor. Telescopic spears, wrist blades, smart disks(sp?), spear guns, glaives, etc.

The plasma caster has a lock-on feature and is far more destructive than handheld Covenant-based plasma technology. The smart disk homes in on the target as well, and slices through at least four torsos with ease. (Most likely will go through energy shields with little effort.)

The Elites have strength, but that doesn't really alter a fight based on hunting skills rather than strength. The Elite will most likely destroy the Predator at close range with an energy sword, but the Predator usually keeps its distance. The Elite would have to pull a Schwarzenegger/Brody (mud over the body) to get that close.

You'd pretty much have to have an Ossoona, Stealth, or SpecOps Elite paired up against a Predator for a fair fight. Those Elites are presumed to be extensively trained in the art of stealth. Then it's just a matter of the Elite hiding it's heat signature, then sneaking up on the Predator. There's also a good chance you can snipe him out, if the Covenant weaponry has thermal imaging (I don't think Preds hide their heat signature, do they?)

  • 06.15.2011 8:24 PM PDT

I am going to say an elite would win mainly because of energy shields. It would take a predator a few hits to get through an elite's shield, by which time the elite could have drawn his sword and killed the predator.

Onyx sentinel shields work that way, not elite or spartan shields.

I'd go with predator. If they use their thermal vision, they'll be able to see the cloaked Elite like a mini sun.

As far as I'm aware, they don't, but neither do Elites, and I don't think the Covenant has thermal imaging, or at least it hasn't been mentioned before, so that puts the Predator at the advantage, given how he has thermal vision and the Covenant's active camouflage gives off a huge heat signature.

BTW, you wrote smart disks correctly :P

Lesser ranked Sangheili would get pwned.
Zealots might have a chance...
Mythic Field Marshalls would break into hysterics. Of course, if the Covenant lose on the ground, what is their MO for that situation?

Why would they break into hysterics? Besides, I think they'd be pretty even, both are honor-driven cultures after all.

Tell us why.

I have just one question.

Which load out does each participant have in this battle?

The Elite's Load outs don't differ too much between their non officer classes.

But when one thinks of the Predators, one must realize that the Preds seen in the films are hunters, as in guys with the Yautja equivilent of Hunting rifles and Compound Bows. And as seen in the older AvP games and Comics, Pred wargear is Kick ass.(As in strong enough for a small squad to Slaughter their way through a thousands of Xenomorphs to capture a queen; weapons includes hand held energy weapons compareable to nukes; its safe to say you don't cross a pred with wargear.)

If its a Hunting gear Pred, It could go Either way; depending on what the Elite has and the location of the fight.(Jungle and Urban arenas the Elite can kiss its ass goodbye.)

If its a Wargear equiped Pred.....that elite's gonna need a lot of back up; the ground forces based on and around High Charity should be enough.

I wasn't referring to Onyx Sentinel shields. I was referring to the shields on Sangheili Combat Harnesses and MJOLNIR Armor.
There was a thread a long time ago asking why a knife could bypass said shield systems and kill the SPARTAN/Elite in the armor, apparently they're only meant to stop high velocity bullets/plasma rounds.

High ranking officers wouldn't really make much of a difference. Maybe if it was a group of Zealots who could lay down some tactical diversions and traps; however this is a 1v1.
Like I said before, the best chance an Elite has against a Predator is as an Ossoona, SpecOps, or Stealth Elite. Those Elites are presumed to be very skilled in stealth, and I can at least hope that they figure out how to use mud to cover their heat signature.

Oh, and if the Elite lost on ground, the Covenant could always glass that section of the planet. (I'm fine with that outcome, it usually doesn't take place on the Predators' home planet)

.... Holy -blam!-, what if the Covenant ships started battling with Predator space vessels? Imagine if the Elites boarded or vice versa. That'd be an epic scene.

almost thirty and not planning to quit.

OT: 1 vs.1 - i'd bet on the Yautja. they're hunters, predators = 1 vs. 1 is what they do all day long

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Whichever is the result, it's a win/win situation for the Yautja, if he loses, he activates the auto-destruction mechanism on his wrist, vaporizing the Elite, if he wins, well he takes a new trophy home.

that reminds me of something: customization in halo 4. i don't want to choose between a zillion helmets that look more or less the same, but i'd rather be able to customize MC's MK VI. i'm thinking of elite jaw bones glued to the helmet (like the big ass predator from "predators"), stuff like that.
