if he wins, well he takes a new trophy home.

that reminds me of something: customization in halo 4. i don't want to choose between a zillion helmets that look more or less the same, but i'd rather be able to customize MC's MK VI. i'm thinking of elite jaw bones glued to the helmet (like the big ass predator from "predators"), stuff like that.

Tribal necklaces and bandoliers would be sick. I wish they had an option where you could choose your armor detail scheme.

Remember Halo 3? Use that armor detail color; now picture Noble Teams unique color scheme, things like the dashes on Carter's bicep, Kat's torso markings, Jun's blue stripe over the arm; set up a system where you have set's of various armor markings all over the MJOLNIR body armor, and set their color according to the armor detail color.

So, back on topic, the votes are starting to balance out. Maybe people are seeing the posts about the Yautja and reconsidering :3.

I am surprised the Yautja has less posts to be honest, but oh well, that happens when you put a vs thread with a character that belongs to the forums you are at, I suppose.

Indeed.

This thread reminded me of how scary the effectiveness of the Yautja is. At first I was like, "Oh, Elites win!" but then I remembered everything I learned about the Yautja and then I thought, "Wow, I do not want to see this fight go down. I don't want to picture an Elite caught in a deployed net from a net gun."

I hate to admit it, but Predators can kill one of my favorite species with ease.

Can the Arbiter's armor resist acid? And are their swords able to extend 1.5 meters?

in all honesty the yautja in the movies do not portray them too well, they are far more deadly.

Oh, undoubtedly. I'm just waiting for someone to try and use AvP as a rebuttal so I can laugh hard. Those were teenagers in armor/weaponry that was specifically designed to not resist acid so that the trials would be harder.

God, I love being a geek sometimes.

Elites are 8'6" and a alot heavier their other attributes would be most proably better than a Predator. Because Preadtors are Elites little brothers.

The Predator would see the Elite coming from miles away with his thermal vision, even if said Elite had active camouflage. And people seem to forget that the Predator has a plasma caster, which is pretty much a super cannon.

I thought it was impossible to see an Elite (or any Covenant tech) when cloaked even with thermals?

I may be wrong though.

OT: Having seen every single movie with a Predator in it (Predator, Ped 2, Pred 3, and both AVPs) They do not strike as:

1) Being that strong

2) Being that quick.

They DO have some useful technology over the Elites, such as various vision modes. Outside of the vision modes, however, Elites have everything the Predators do but better.

1) A plasma rifle has more shots in it and does similar damage to a Pred caster (books depict them as being a weaker, but faster version of these infamous weapons; obliterating body parts with one shot and such).

2) An energy sword would cut up any and all of the Pred's knives and swords.

3) Preds are trained to hunt; Elites are trained to fight. When an Elite sees the Pred coming on his motion sensor, it will turn into a 1v1 brawl that, simply put, the Pred would lose. Elites' have shields remember.

The Elites are 7 feet, Ripa 'Moramee was 8'1" and he was tall for his species, also according to the Encyclopedia, Elites weight less than 200 Kilograms (144, if I'm correct)

Yautja (Predators) average height ranging between 7 to 8 feet and weigh in at 250 to 350lbs (113 to 159 KG) average. So they are not that different, but the Yautja are far more powerful physically wise.

Then why don't the movies depict them as being that strong? I saw one get outsmarted by Ahnold, and one get beat and killed in a hand to hand with a cop.

If these guys really are as strong as the Pred defenders say they are, how is it a cop can hand to hand a Predator, and kill it, but an Elite cant???

Yup,saw alot of wank coming from their fans.

In the first movie a Pred got wounded by bursts from assault rifle.

A plasma rifle could melt concrete, blow of your head and arms.

The device also generates a considerable amount of heat, causing its user to be clearly visible on human thermal goggles and some variations of the SRS 99C-S2 AM sniper rifle. The humans of Alpha Base on Installation 04 used this advantage when their base was infiltrated by stealth Elites, equipping their Fireteams with infrared goggles allowing them to easily see the attackers.

Yautja also are formidable fighters, given how they take on entire hives of Xenomorphs as rites to ascend in rank in their clans.

We see John Forge beat the Arbiter without any serious injury, so same could be said for the Elites.

Good catch. Still, while that one, singular event was clearly plot shielding, all of the movies that involve the Preds depict them as being little more then seriously skilled hunters with advanced technology. Their ability to fight isn't overly impressive.

1) Kiled in hand to hand with a cop (Pred 2)

2) Killed in CQC by a guy with a sword (Pred 3) (Still killed the human)

3) Outsmarted by Ahnold (Pred 1)

4) Outsmarted by obvious suicide grenade ploy (Pred 3)

5) Outsmarted by a second suicide grenade ploy (Pred 3)

6) Injured by modern day assault rifle (AVP: R)

And so on. One event in a Halo game that was stuffed with plot shielding and an overdose of Stormtrooper Effect does not negate 10 years of fairly consistent depictions.

Contrary, 5 movies that depict them as being "meh" compared to the Elites does in fact negate their alleged >Elite abilities and skill.

I love the pathetic double standard that this forum has.

"The Flood in the games is not the "true" Flood so therefore it pawns everything. Just ignore the canon hierarchy"

But...

"The Stormtroopers/Predators in the movies do not portray them with such abilities and as per the fictions canon hierarchy they therefore do not have such abilities."

Indeed... especially when they basically go (In let's say Star Wars vs Halo) "Extended universe is FALSE, those numbers aren't shown in the movies, therefore they are lies. But yeah, we are going to use EU for Halo while Star Wars can only use 'hard canon'."

A: Energy wristblades
B: Anti-matter bombs.
C: Plasma Launchers.
D: Opinion

Edit: Idummo, say Predators are badass for killing humans is kinda like me saying a barbarian is badass for killing a room full of toddlers.

The Predator wins. It has thermal vision so even if the elite was cloaked he could see it.

  • 06.16.2011 11:31 AM PDT

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

The same cases of plot shielding could be said about the Predator movies, the main character is not going to die even though the monster is like, a super advanced hunter.

Besides, from what I remember, the Predator is Predator 2 was killed with his own weapons (main guy used them against him).

I mean, we have cut scenes of the Marines of the Halo universe doing fairly well against Elites as well (Halo Wars first cutscene)

I think what ALI217 meant was a bomb that they carry arround. Yautja have them in case they fail in order to take out their prey and to erase evidence of their existence, Elites don't usually carry a twenty ton, spiky anti-matter charge on their backpack.

Maybe miniscule anti-matter bomb? Designed to destroy limited size of area?

And to answer to OP

Depends on location and skill. If it's a Minor/Zealot against Predators, Elites will die. Unless, you bring up SpecOps Elites (that had red blades and whatever, they were designed to kill Spartans) or Stealth Elites then they have a shot.
