The Predator would see the Elite coming from miles away with his thermal vision, even if said Elite had active camouflage. And people seem to forget that the Predator has a plasma caster, which is pretty much a super cannon.
I thought it was impossible to see an Elite (or any Covenant tech) when cloaked even with thermals?
I may be wrong though.
OT: Having seen every single movie with a Predator in it (Predator, Ped 2, Pred 3, and both AVPs) They do not strike as:
1) Being that strong
2) Being that quick.
They DO have some useful technology over the Elites, such as various vision modes. Outside of the vision modes, however, Elites have everything the Predators do but better.
1) A plasma rifle has more shots in it and does similar damage to a Pred caster (books depict them as being a weaker, but faster version of these infamous weapons; obliterating body parts with one shot and such).
2) An energy sword would cut up any and all of the Pred's knives and swords.
3) Preds are trained to hunt; Elites are trained to fight. When an Elite sees the Pred coming on his motion sensor, it will turn into a 1v1 brawl that, simply put, the Pred would lose. Elites' have shields remember.
The device also generates a considerable amount of heat, causing its user to be clearly visible on human thermal goggles and some variations of the SRS 99C-S2 AM sniper rifle. The humans of Alpha Base on Installation 04 used this advantage when their base was infiltrated by stealth Elites, equipping their Fireteams with infrared goggles allowing them to easily see the attackers.
Yautja also are formidable fighters, given how they take on entire hives of Xenomorphs as rites to ascend in rank in their clans.
