because multiplayer is using the Reach engine, does that mean that the Hog is NOT indestructible? (along w/ other vehicles?)

Yes. All vehicles, weapons, player models, etc function exactly like in Halo: Reach because the multiplayer is Halo: Reach. The maps that come with Halo CEA are a map pack for Halo: Reach.

Campaign physics plays out exactly like Halo CE physics.

As an extension of that: Campaign is exactly the same as it was before. They now have two engines running at the same time (Reach and CE) and you can press a button to swap back to the original campaign's visuals at any time. Because the CE engine is also the one powering gameplay the vehicles are indestructible and the pistol is back to it's original form.

Hope this help.

"Where ere thou hast been, here or in yon world manifest? Canst thou tell what is, or what was, or what is to come? No thing shall last. Yet there are some things that will never change. History is written in blood, yet are battles really lost on the battlefield? Canst thou tell me where thou comest, and where thou goest, and what is, or what was, or what will be? For everything remains, AS IT NEVER WAS."

Hmm... I would almost welcome the UNSC arsenal being destructible as a minor tweak to gameplay. I understand that they're keeping it true to Halo: CE, and that it will likely stay the exact same, but I think it would add so much more intensity to the game. Imagine the Maw but with a destructible Warthog.

Math rules the world.

I read that they were using the Halo 3 physics for the CE campaign.

Nope. They did not touch the engine physics. They only reskinned and boosted the hardware a bit.

Why would they use Halo 3? That makes zero sense.

Many rages would be had.

Doubful. It'd be just like the final Halo run in Halo 3. Simply... drive well.

The final warthog for the Forward Onto Dawn run in Halo 3 is indestructible... Notice how no matter how much the sentinels shoot it up it doesn't break apart like any of the other warthogs before it so that handling wouldn't be lowered as the run went on.

Making the warthog destructible in the Maw is senseless and adds a layer of unnecessary pause to avoid enemy fire and find new warthogs. It would break up the pacing of a continuous uninterrupted escape when players are forced to worry about their vehicle blowing up half way before reaching Echo 419 or the Longsword. Having an indestructible warthog and rechargeable shields negates that.

Edit: Also keep in mind that in Halo 3 vehicle health was relative to actual health.

I was actually unaware that the Warthogs were indestructible on the Halo 3 run.
