Seggi is the guy that says:

"We can't try to cut down the stregnth of the Nazis, how would we react if they did that to us? It's just the *time skip* US being completely pig-headed and cruel to the Soviets. I mean if *time skip* the Iraqis want the Kuwaiti oil to protect themselves, why shouldn't *time skip* we let them? the Iranians and North Koreans have the right to defend themselves too."

Bungie Pentathlon - who actually cares ?

Noble Team = Army
Master Cheif = Navy

They were given different ranks by different military branches. Perhaps the Army were feeling more generous !

Whens there's no one to turn to, just aim ahead

Master Chief is basically its own bad ass rank in itself. No one ever really referred to John as a petty officer.

I wouldn't go saying Reach breaks canon, when you dont know anything about canon.

Noble Team had more frontline interaction than the other Spartans. As such, they were promoted so that they wouldn't be 'hijacked' by any ranking officers seeking to pull rank and use the Spartans for their own needs. It was stated so here.

Likely it was to prevent potential incidents like the one that occurred in First Strike where Lt Haverson tried to take command of the situation and override the Chief.

Lt.Commander=Navy rank

Spartan program=Navy program

Ackerson was the founder of the Spartan III program, he was from the army. While the main companies were not Army jurisdiction, SpecWarGroupThree belongs to the Army.

They had Navy ranks though, seeing how Lieutenant, Lieutenant Commander and Commander are all Navy ranks.

Well spotted brainiac - I am not denying Commander isn't a Navy rank if you look closely.

All I have mentioned is that Noble were with the Army and MC was with the Navy - suggesting also that the Army gave the spartans better rankings.

Please read posts carefully otherwise you look daft.

Oh, okay. Thank you. That bothered the sh1t out of me for a long time.

Why hasn't Chief been promoted though?

Probably because he didn't need to be. The Spartan IIs generally conducted their operations completely separated from the frontline troops and usually are directly deployed by the ONI detachment giving the orders (Stanforth, the personnel of the ONI ship in The Package, etc, etc) so it's straight forward with little room of being reassigned on the spot to the point there would be a conflict of interest.

Noble Team seems to have been formed with frontline trooper interaction in mind in regards to whatever operations they would be commonly assigned to. Which, would warrant the high ranks as insurance to prevent things from changing in the field. Ironically it didn't stop Halsey, a civilian at that, from commandeering Noble Team from Holland without his advance notice.
