if you watched the making of halo 2 in the collectors edition DVD it mentions the reason for the dramatic difference in the weapons. Regardless of which is better, the weapons in halo 1 seemed a bit too non-gunish. weird word aint it lol. I agree. the sniper rifle just doesnt feel like a sniper rifle to me. Too loose recoil, and the sound sounds weak. The sniper rifle in halo 2 has that BANG feel to it that real rifles have. more like a real gun, imo. Anyone that has used a powerful rifle will agree that it doesnt just bounce up and down when you fire it and its firing doesnt sound like bwoosh. It goes POW and kicks on your shoulder. Halo 2 emulated this effect better. As for the assault rifle, they made kinda 2 versions of it. The BR is the more accurate, burst fire version, and the smg is the spray bullets everywhere version. As for your shotgun comment, the shotty in halo 1 is unrealistic. In halo 2 the shotty may be less accurate, but thats because shotguns arent accurate. I kinda doubt many people here have actually used the real versions of the halo 2 weapons. I haven't done all of them, but i have fired a high power rifle, a shotgun, and a pistol. They do not behave AT ALL like they do in halo 1. Halo 2 takes a few liberties with the weapon realism, but its sci-fi, if it was too realistic, it wouldnt seem like future tech. Still, they need to seem like they are real weapons, and halo 2's weapons behave more like real weapons than halo 1's arsenal. that is all i have to say.
