Not my favorite novel, but the Flood is MUCH worse.

Cryptum>Cole Protocol>Ghosts of Onyx>Evolutions>Contact Harvest>First Strike>Fall of Reach>The Flood

I thought that you fapped over Ghosts of Onyx and that you thought it was the best novel aside from Cryptum?

Meh.

I loved Contact Harvest, but I agree it isn't as good as Cryptum, Evolutions, The Cole Protocol and Ghosts of Onyx.

OP in a nutshell: I don't like Contact Harvest because I don't understand English well enough.

The next part is directed to OP.

Really, by your description it sounds like a totally different book than what I am currently reading.

First of all, how did Johnson sound boring? Contact Harvest showed him as a man with actual emotions, as a man who really thinks about the morality of his doings. Not just some super badass space marine who just kills aliens all the time like the games did.

There is this thing known as language skills. judging by your opinions, you either aren't very good with English or just can't concentrate/have a very bad imagination. Joseph Staten described things very well. So well, that I could always see the places in my mind.

I see nothing wrong with the part that tells about training of the militia. It's a good way to tell backstories of the militia men. Even my favorite part of the book was probably their live fire excercise.

How is it hard to understand what caused their meeting with the Brutes go terribly wrong? First it was all going well until the Grunts killed Osmo, he still managed to fire few bullets out of his Assault Rifle and manged to warn everyone. This of course caused the situation to break and a firefight started.

So, a one page with little love ruined part of teh story for you? I agree it was a bit unnecessary part, but it doesn't bother me that much. It doesn't do any harm for the story of the book overall.

Again, I simply don't undrerstand the problem with the battle settings. Staten clearly described the places and I at least understood the situation very well at every moment.

Overall teh book was very good, maybe not the best Halo book, but definitely good. It's very entertaining to read. It also adds a lot to the canon. For example, it describes very well daily life at High Charity and also gives information on how Covenant's government system works. There are lots of interesting characters like Da-Dab, Lighter Than Some, Johnson, Maccabeus and many more.

I really don't know what you're talking about.

Upgrading a PC is so hard. You have all these updates, and disks, and what not. When it comes to upgrading a Mac, it's easy. You just take your old Mac, throw it away, and go buy a new one!

I found Contact Harvest to be pretty entertaining and easy to imagine but that's just me. Remember that Harvest is an agricultural heavy planet so I found the battle setting to take place in the area between the cities and the farm land, which would explain how some soldiers were hiding in buildings while others where searching through wheat fields at the same time. The only problem I found with your post is that the games are "M" rated, which means the books are Mature for a reason, there is really no other rating to put on the book unless you wanted to give the books movie ratings and even then, I highly doubt Contact Harvest wouldn't be rated R. Also, I don't see how it didn't add to Halo when this is pretty much where the Halo story begins in its current canon time line.

Contact Harvest... the only book (Off the top of my head that I've read.) which did not feature and focus on Spartans.

Not sure if its the worst book in the series, as I haven't even gotten past page 40 yet...because it is definatly the hardest book to get into.

Its style doesn't really allow for pleasant reading for me. Flood wasn't bad by the way. Its just that it covered stuff we already know so the suprise was gone. But the things it added to the story were great.

Imagine a triangle. It's perfect, but a little plain. You take a chisel, and carve a small decorative symbol into it to make it a little more interesting. People like it, but it could use a little more.

So you then take a sledgehammer..

Where did I say that?

Anyway, glad you agree.

I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.
I created the Moa XING avatar pic.
Also I earned the All Star nameplate with this submission to Week 14 All Stars http://www.bungie.net/images/News/Inline11/bwu_0415/art/likea boss.jpg

I didn't even finish the COle Protocol. The only thing that was interesting was the Deacon and the Engineer.
