My name is Legion, for we are many.

Since this thread is about images, art, and visual stimuli, I'm going to ask: Why do the Jackals look so different in every Halo game? Of course it could be simply artistic license or graphical overhaul, but every other species is instantly recognizable as itself from one Halo game to another.

In Halo CE the Jackals were large doglike creatures with flat teeth and jewel eyes. In Halo 2 they took on a velociraptor-like reptile look with distinctive smooth, orange skin and glowing pink eyes. Then in Halo 3 they became barefoot, had black sharp claws, and had mottled, calloused, tan brown skin; their eyes also became larger and rounder. In Halo Wars they had yellow skin and matching eyes. After that in Halo Reach their spiny feathers became black and blue, their claws became ivory-colored, and their eyes became pearly and translucent.

Not that I have anything against Halo, but I'm kind of confused as to why the developers would change the Jackals' appearance so much between every Halo title.

Different tribes? Kinda like the Brutes in 2, 3, and Reach look so different.

Brutes in 2, 3, and Reach look so different?

In Halo 2 the Brutes had a lot of fur. In Halo 3 and Reach, they actually looked kind of similar. The 3/Reach Brutes are simply the Brutes from 2, just with a lot of body fur shaved off. They retained the same muscular build and body shape.

They did have differances though. The Halo 3 brutes were slighty less bulky, and didn't you notice that the Reach ones had coneheads and lips?

Well, yeah. But those were small aesthetic differences, whereas the Jackals in every Halo game besides Halo 3 and ODST look like different species wearing the same silver-blue jumpsuits.

Same with the Jackals. In Halo 1, they wore a helmet. Can't see much differeance between 2, 3, and Reach. The color differances are basicually the same as the differance between caucasians and African Americans.

You do have a point here but the Jackals from each game did have some more obvious differences:

- Beak shape and size

- Eye shape, color, and size

- Facial features

- Skin texture and color

- Height and musculature

- Claws/fingernails

That's just like Humans. Different nose sizes, eye colors, skin color, hair color, etc. What is confusing you?

Well, every other species looks more or less the same from one Halo game to another. I'm just...confused as to why Bungie would choose to make so many different body designs for the Jackals, instead of the Elites, who, as we all know, are the most represented Covenant species in the games.

It's just visual upgrades, nothing more.

Yeah...you're probably right...let's just say that the Jackals are a unusually diverse species.

It's already been proven that they are.
