Subject: The planet in the Halo 4 teaser is not Onyx's shield world.

Oh hey there

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

(Didn't we prove this 4 years ago when Halo 3 came out? I thought we did. Oh well)

After watching the teaser released by 343i at E3 we were given a lot of new information to ponder, but with that information we were given a fact that can't be debated based on the information we already have from Ghosts of Onyx. That is that the planet that the Chief is drifting towards is not Onyx. This can easily be proven in the last chapter of Ghosts of Onyx by Halsey's explanation and the description given to us of the scene at Onyx by the crew of the Dusk.

First, if this were Onyx there would be a fleet of trillions of drones patrolling and protecting what is left of the planet Onyx. A fleet that was large enough to destroy the Covenant fleet that attacked Onyx in first. A small quote to show this:
The drones were the planet Onyx. "There are trillions of them" Lieutenant Durruno whispered..."They're protecting this place."(page 378)So the planet would not be there in any size. Obviously the planetoid in the teaser is very large, and there are no fleets of sentinels.

Later Halsey gives us a description of what is left of the planet Onyx:
"The Forerunner's grasp of Slipspace technology was far more advanced than ours or the Covenant's," Dr. Halsey explained. "I believe this sphere resides in the center of the planet, encapsulated and protected by a Slipspace bubble of compressed dimensionality."page 381 of Ghosts of OnyxSo the sphere would be inside of a Slipspace Bubble and invisible to people in normal space. On top of that Halsey says that the bubble would likely be at the center of what is left of Onyx. "You do understand that while externally, this space may be only a few meters in diameter within the center of Onyx internally it's compressed dimensionality... A few meters in diameter eh? That does not sound like what we saw in the teaser does it?

So here we are with a new fact to add to our list of new facts found in the teaser: that the planet that the Chief is drifting towards is not Onyx.

"The measure of a man is what he does with power"-Plato

It isn't Onyx.

  • 06.18.2011 2:42 PM PDT

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Yup, we've been saying this almost 4 years, but a select group of ignorant morons just don't listen.

  • 06.18.2011 2:48 PM PDT

lolz so why is halo 4 gonna take so long to come out?

  • 06.18.2011 2:54 PM PDT

Space. The Final Frontier. These are the voyages of Murphy's Laws on the StarShip Enterprise

man it's cOLD in here. OT, I think that it's just the fact that Onyx was destroyed, and this planet was intact that kinda gives it away.

This isn't the Flood or Reach forum take your memes elsewhere. I was restating it because there has been a rash of people saying it is Onyx. If you took half of a second to read and saw that I wrote I thought we already proved it you would already know that and wouldn't have made an -blam!- out of yourself.

Don't -blam!- with Kerser!

-Onyx is like 1-3 Meters in Diameter Isn't it? So unless Master Chief and the Frigate shrunk its impossible.

It's clearly not onyx as you have proved with the info from GoO but it could be another shield world like onyx or contain a portal to the MD sphere in which the remaining spartans and halsey are trapped.

Tell me, if you are making a network of shield worlds to protect against the halo's firing, why would they all have portals linking to the same micro dyson sphere?

It'd take the flood overrunning a SINGLE shield world in order to kill ALL the people taking refuge.

It's a massive tactical and security flaw. Much more likely is that this world, if it was a shield world, does not have a portal to the same micro dyson sphere that Halsey is in.

Unreal, isn't it?

Of course it isn't Onyx, anyone who thinks that doesn't understand the story well enough.

However, I do believe that the Forerunner structure will take us to Onyx right at the beginning of the game.

Evidence?
Master Chief is only person on Forward Unto Dawn (At least, the only Spartan-level warrior)

Halo 4 will have four player co-op; not doing so would be a jump backwards and would not be a good business idea.

The 3 known remaining Spartans beyond the Chief are Kelly, Linda, and Fred. Meet up with Spartans -> Begin new mission.

  • 06.19.2011 1:30 PM PDT

I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.
I created the Moa XING avatar pic.
Also I earned the All Star nameplate with this submission to Week 14 All Stars http://www.bungie.net/images/News/Inline11/bwu_0415/art/likea boss.jpg

there are some people who think it's Onyx, which is obviously wrong.
But people like me, believe it's Onyx's shield world. my theory

Obviously you did not read or understand anything I wrote in my OP. It can't be the shield world because the shield world is inside a slipspace bubble.

How hard is it just to insert three other Master Chiefs? We don't need 343 trying to find some way to fit those three unknown to anybody who hasn't read the book (which is like, 80% of Halo players) characters just so we could have different characters for 4-player co-op. It's best not to derive anything from the novels, because the majority of Halo player have not read them.

So it is best to add something complete new without explaining it whatsoever?

Because reach did that and we still don't nowexactly what happened with jorge despite bungie saying the game would clear that up. So your idea is a fail.

Jorge is dead.. The game did in fact clear that up. Even the book cleared that up if i remember right.

Does anyone know what planet it could be?

Also it can't be forerunners since they are all dead, right?

Gotcha. So would the forerunners be possible enemies in the new game? They did have the forerunner-human war, but that was more because of the flood. What reason would they have to attack the chief?

It's a shield world. There are two types of shield worlds. There is the shield world explained in "The Ghost of Onyx" and then there is the type of shield world described as basically what you see in the Halo 4 teaser.

And go read Cryptum, there are still forerunners out there. Though there is no evidence provided saying that we will ever meet them.

No because they aren't evil, weapons would be too advanced, and thats too typical of a plot

What reason? Well he's supporting War.
Forerunners were against war, but then again, they did "ruthlessly" destroy the precursors.

you mean the halowars shield world, we don't know if the ending planet is one becuase it could be a forerunner planet.

cryptum is a massive prequel and nothing in the books states they are alive. We got that from the encyclopedia, and the last terminal is evidence that we will met them.
