Subject: The planet in the Halo 4 teaser is not Onyx.

Does anyone know what planet it could be?

Also it can't be forerunners since they are all dead, right?

It's a shield world. There are two types of shield worlds. There is the shield world explained in "The Ghost of Onyx" and then there is the type of shield world described as basically what you see in the Halo 4 teaser.

And go read Cryptum, there are still forerunners out there. Though there is no evidence provided saying that we will ever meet them.
I did read cryptum. But since it is the first of three books, there could be more to the history of forerunners after the first book.

It is interesting for me though, to know that at the end of the book they were on the ark, but when you go to the ark (if it's even the same ark) there isn't anything there.

you mean the halowars shield world, we don't know if the ending planet is one becuase it could be a forerunner planet.

cryptum is a massive prequel and nothing in the books states they are alive. We got that from the encyclopedia, and the last terminal is evidence that we will met them.

That was obviously not a "planet".. it was a "world".. OBVIOUSLY a mechanical world. It's a shield world and I'm sure of it.

And before you say that the book doesn't state that they are till alive.. ask yourself, "what is a Cryptum" and why would they make a "Cryptum" the subject/title?

world and planet are the same thing; forerunners could make their own planets so there is a chance that it is simply a forerunner world. Even though i also like to believe it might be a shield world we can't say for a fact it is unless paired up with ridiculous claims.

Probably becuase the book is based around waking the didact from his cryptum. nothing in that book states they are alive, and if you think so post a excerpt and a page number.

world and planet are the same thing, and just because you think it is one thing doesn't rule out it being something else.

It is ether a shield world or a forerunner planet.

Cryptum was about waking didact from his cryptum hence the name.

I have never seen a Shield world referenced or talked about anywhere other than the type that Blue Team and Halsey are trapped in, in the center of Onyx. So we have to assume that the only reason shield worlds are actually "shielded" from the Halo Arrays affects is because they are inside slipspace bubbles. So that shouldn't be a shield world. Unless for some reason its slipspace technology is malfunctioning which makes no sense.

halowars "shield world" being another type and probably the original type (onxy's were originally made to fight the flood) since it had ships in it.

The object in teh Halo 4 teaser looks nothing like a Shield World. It could be something completely different than what we think.

It actually looks exactly like one dude, seriously.

There was an episode of star trek about a dyson sphere and the ending planet looks exactly like it and even opens up like it.

I mean insomuch the fact is has no natural vegetation or anything on it. Granted, we've seen only two in the Halo universe, Onyx and the Halo Wars SW. We'll see though.

Like I said, we'll see. Nice Star Trek article though, really gives me an idea on the Dyson Sphere concept.

Mmm well I never played Halo Wars. But I don't see how a shield world that isn't suspended in Slipspace could stop the Halo Arrays blast... In cryptum not even Precursor architecture could stop the blast of the early Halos so how could it stop the new blast? Unless all of the Shield Worlds are in slipspace.

Halo War's shield world was more of a fleet docking point. There was a sizable Forerunner fleet docked there.

Taken directly from the book

...I seemed to sense deep pulses of memory from all who had ever chosen to enter a Cryptum and were still sealed in profound meditative transcendence, united, brothers and sisters in timeless xankara...

This suggests there were many who chose to reside in Cryptums, to find 'Inner Peace' as mentioned in the books or contemplate previous actions.

The Forerunner did send out their fleets during the height of the Forerunner Flood war to recall as many citizens of their empire as they could before the Halos were activated. I would assume that would include any Forerunner in Cryptums.

Taken from the book again -

In the archives of treasure-seekers, such tales were inevitably followed by warnings. If one should come across something called a Cryptum, or a Warrior Keep, one should leave it alone. Violating a Cryptum, whatever it was, came with
nasty consequences, not the least of which involved angering the highly protective guild of Warrior-Servants.

It is unlikely they would, unless these individuals possessed extremely valuable information or there were so many of them that it would help the war effort against the flood.

Drastic times call for drastic measures. But in the end, who knows. I would find it unlikely any Forerunner Cryptums would be around with Forerunners in them post-Forerunner-Flood War.

And it's odd, the book says don't disturb them, but there is a process to bring back the Forerunner from hibernation.

I guess we will just need to wait until the next two books are written for a definitive answer, as some parts of the story are still completely unknown.

If the Forerunner were on the brink of extinction they would need all the warriors they could get no matter if they were shamed or whatever.
