So the first Human - Flood War... Halo: Cryptum.

I haven't read the book yet, but I've seen a summery on the internet. (Needless to say I'll be picking up the book as soon as I can)

I need to get something straight. Can someone confirm this?
Obviously spoilers if you haven't read it. Unless the website is fake...

Humans existed when the Forerunners were around and were advanced.
Humans discovered simple Flood cells- With the Prophets[?], and used the cells to control animals.
This got out of control and an early type of Flood took over several Human controlled planets.
The Humans then fled and wondered into Forerunner space - Which lead to a war?
The Humans developed some kind of vaccine that rendered them toxic to the Flood and then defeated them. Unfortunately the Forerunner then defeated the Humans.

The Halos were fired at Human controlled planets at low power, to wipe them out.

The remaining Humans were split up into races to stop them from becoming a strong force again.

10,000[?] years later the Flood returned and marked the start of the 300 year Forerunner - Flood war.

And all during, the Humans kept the details of the vaccine a secret from the Forerunners.

Is that right?

It seems awfully ironic that the Forerunners basically wiped out a race (Or sent them to the stone age?) which could've saved them.

Were the Humans on par with the Forerunners technology wise? How come the Forerunners couldn't find this 'vaccine' for themselves?

I only read that on the internet like 10 minutes ago. I'm really curious.

Everything except the use of Halos on humanity is correct. Halo was still designed to destroy the Flood, though some groups disagreed (thus the combined efforts to build both the Shields and the Halos.)

And humanity's history was obliterated, the Prophets' wasn't (they cut a deal) so they had no idea where or what the vaccine was. Unfrortunately, the Flood we fought was an underdevoloped, primitive version, that seemed to lack a Gravemind mand the Pure Forms. It was all a feral formed Flood.

And the Forerunners couldn't find the vaccine, one because the Flood had evolved, and two probably because humanity was the intended inheritors of the Mantle, thus making the Forerunners unworthy (the Prisoner of Charumm Hakkor seems to be using the Flood as a means to punish the forerunners) though thats speculation.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

seeing how cryptum has been out for months and you said you read a summary why would we need to confirm anything?

how about you wait until you get the book before talking about it.

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

Haha. I only learnt of the book today. I read a small summary of the Flood - Human war; No information other than that was there.

I'm planning to get the book soon. I just wanted confirmation that it was true. I mean, all this information was just chucked on me.

Yeah, it pisses me off. I'm reading Contact: Harvest right now, in which a Forerunner device identifies every human being on Harvest as Forerunner. Also, the very idea of humanity contending with the Forerunners with the help of the Prophets, and the Flood being a PetSmart product just kind of kill it for me.

Greg Bear can suck me.

No, learn to read properly, it identifies them as Reclaimers, it's the glyph the Covenant misinterpreted.

There is nothing saying humanity is Forerunner except for a rampant Monitor with a compartmentalised brain and a misconception by Truth. I'm pretty sure you've not even read Cryptum, so I believe it would be appropriate to say STFU and GTFO.

Woah, what have I been missing out on? Is there some sort of link or something that leads to a summary, or something? I have evidently been out of the loop for a while.

Lol, you type amazingly well with one hand on your dick ;)

And I'm pretty sure that "My makers" were Forerunner. Also, if Greg Bear can do that, I reserve the right to make a LOTR prequel in which Orcs and Elves go to war against humanity, who, with the aid of Sauron, defeat humanity and devolve them into the dwarves, and Hobbits. Anything can be needlessly convoluted, but when it's done to Halo, it's praised.

I have no idea where you are trying to go with the mini rant, but we believe that the forerunners reprogrammed their machines to act with humanity as if they were forerunner.

Or we could go with a theory that the humanity made the forerunners (ancient) in which the statement would be right.

I know, right? It's a skill that took years to perfect.

Umad?

None of that is of any relevance, nor does it make any sense, in this argument...

*kisses you goodbye*

I'm not doing this again. It's fun, but there are better forums to argue against Cryptum on. There's no such thing as a good discussion on B.net.
