A year or two ago, Bungie said that the Fuel Rod Cannon wasn't in H2's multiplayer (Xbox) due to framerate problems. Obviously, a good PC won't have this problem. Should it be in the PC version?

The FRG in Halo 2 isn't as unbalanced as that in Halo PC.
The Halo 2 FRG is less of a 'noob' weapon, as it has a limited magazine and less splash damage. In fact i'd go as far as to say its a completely different weapon in Halo 2.
So yes I think it should be in the PC version because its not the overely powerful weapon of desruction that it is in Halo PC.

The Halo PC FRG is overbalanced. It had a faster rate of fire and more capacity then the SPNKr. If they included it they should tone the rate of fire down to like one or two seconds between shots and drop the capacity down some. They should also include a no heavies gametype as a choice. [sarcasm] I realize this would render over half of the current Halo PC players ineffective, but it should be in there as an option.[/sarcasm]

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

None of the Halo PC weapons are unbalanced. It takes real skill to learn and master each one. The fuel rod can easily be overcome by a player who respects distances between enemies, and has a good pistol shot/sniper shot.

That's what melee and frag grenades are for. Obviously certain heavy weapons are an advantage, all I'm saying is that a skilled player covers all his bases.

im saying that frag grenades have a much lower limit than the frg, and most of the time its not possible to get close to them to melee before youre peppered with fuel rods. i wouldnt care so much if it didnt have such a ridiculous rate of fire.

The FRG is a cheap weapon. While it can be overcome with patience, it's something that ticks most people off and...well, it's just cheap. I could go on and on, but there isn't really a need to. We've all been there.

But playing with the H2Xbx FRG...whoa. It's an actual weapon, not some cheap cross between an SMG/Rocket Launcher. It's got only four rounds per clip (it's reloadable) as opposed to a cooldown time, limited range and effectiveness, and is generally a competent, skill-requiring weapon.

Even though it does not bother me, the frg drives other people crazy. But like me15ter said, H2's version is more fair for everyone.

The feul rod has been replaced by a cannon like gun that is used in Halo 2 campaign, there is no need for the FRG when there is one already in Halo 2.

You know nothing of wepon balancing.

for one the Pistol is the most noobinsh wepon in the game, i wouldn't mind, if it didnt have such a large clip but hell you can miss half your shots, and still kill the enemy. the FRC, is a noobish wepon to due to its insane splash damage, its like a rocket launcher, that has 50 shots, and hella splash damage.

the assalut rifle needs, more range i mean its meant to be a short to mid range wepon yet it shots break dont travle more then 50 feet before flyingall over the place.

the shotgun does what it should, wtfpwn you at close range, also this is the case with the FT.

the oversheild deplets itself in MP, which it souldnt i mean with all te Pistol toting noobs around, and the spray and pray snipers it shouldnt do that.

Banshee, if not the most unbalanced vehicle in the game, its also a wepon,it mean the driver tkaes almost no to slim damage form everything, plus the fuel rod cannon make, with its hella splash damage, makes it a very very difficult challenge.

the Ghost goes wice as fast as a warthog, and has sticky plasma shots, that slow you to a crawl and you get owned, and its also hard to beat.

well thats about what i have to say about the wepons balancing in HPC.

Actually, the weapons ARE well balanced. With the exception of the needler and plasma pistol, it is quite easily possible to take down any other weapon.

Pistols are very high accuracy weapons, so you need to be able to aim effectively to shoot. If someone can dodge even slightly, a noob will never even hit with a pistol.

The Fuel rod is harder to beat, but usually just staying at long range with a pistol or an ambush round a corner with a frag nade and a shotgun will usually kill em. It's only a problem if the rodder gets into a spawn zone...

Assault rifles are OK at medium-long range if you just don't spray all over the place, they lose all accuracy for that. For close range, if you just hold down the recticule on the enemy, they will die before you even get to half ammo.

Banshee most unbalanced?
1: stick a plasma nade on it.
2: stick a frag nade UNDER it.
3: 2 clips or less of pistols will kill it.
4: One tank shell will take it down.
5: Ghosts, which are smaller, can dodge more effectively can take down banshees well.
6: USE THE FORCE, LUKE! No, wait. I meant surprise rocket launcher.
7: Shotgun. Death.
etc etc
Plus, it's relatively easy to jump over the wings.

The ghost isn't faster than the warthog. On a straight stretch, the hog is a bit faster, tho yeah the ghost is sometimes a bugger.

Hell, even the needler is ace at shooting people in the back, and plasma pistol is good at taking down shields of vehicles and people.

FRC is going to be in H2, but in it's powered down form. Eh, I prefered the old one, cause it took a bit of skill in killing people who had it.

Err...vehicles have shields?! Have I not been playing HPC long enough, or is there anyone else that has missed the shielded vehicles?

I don't really understand what you are trying to refer too...

Vehicles with people in them have shields on the people, whos shields are taken down with the overcharged shot hitting the vehicle with the people with shields in...

yes stick i nade under a flying banshee that makes sense :/

Ever used Plasma grenades?

And if you're truly skilled, frags also work, they jsut need a bit of mastering. Try to get the banshee to swoop down for a splatter kill, then chuck a frag under it.

And as for the pistol..."Newbies hate it, but pros swear by it and guess who wins in a fight?" Which one are you?

One thing im looking forward to is the lack of shee noobs in halo 2.
The banshee in H2 is so weak its a deathtrap for anyone that gets in it.
Pay back time for the shee noobs has come :o)

Heyyo,

H2's frc is not nearly as lame as H1's. It ain't rapid fire and massive clip (it spawns with what? 100 ammo, and so could last you quite some time, on H2 you probably have to find ammo, so its life-expectancy in MP is quite low).

Lots of H1PC banshee n00bs just hover from a distance n' launch fuel rod shots at ya. So yeah, the only thing I find effective then is a plasma rifle to take down their shields n' scare them off cause yeah, once their shields are down most just run away too affraid to loose their banshee. ;)

For sure Halo2PC has a much better chance for balanced gameplay, so it'll be nice to see in that perspective for sure. I just hope it gets the support a PC game should unlike H1PC.

he knows. the fuel rod gun is not in halo 2 multiplayer. he is asking about multiplayer not campaign.

i think the halo 2 frg is fine. Its less powerful than halo 1's frg, but it has 4 shots then reload. As long as they cant spam you with 10 fuel rod shots in 2 seconds. Thats just freaking annoying.

If they do have it in, you should have to charge it like the Hunter does. This will force players to use it more carefully, then the hopping multifire noobs we have now.

Fuel rod gun should work pretty well in halo 2 PC. With the limited magazine and slower rate of fire/ slower bullet speed it really becomes a challenge to use. Perhaps it is still a bit more effective in anti infantry roles for it's increased magazine but given the overpowering of the rocket in halo 2 even the FRG may be overshadowed by it.

Though because the FRG (at least in single player) does not lock on to vehicles and is a multi hit weapon to kill vehicles in halo 2 I would go so far as to replace the rockets on the map for new FRGs. Fire and forget rockets are damn good in the real world but make games just no fun.

actually i think the frg is kinda overpowered in a arbiter level i saw three brutes and like 4 jackals and 1 shot killed every one of em.... and we all know how hard brutes are to kill oh and i was playin in normal too so dont say i was in easy..
