What was the first forum created on bungie?

  • 02.15.2006 7:57 AM PDT

The very first official Bungie forum was The Underground, hence it is ForumID=1.

The Maw was the second official forum (hence forumID=2). The Septagon was originally the forum for the Chapter Founders group, however with the site update in April 2004 it became an official forum.

The lack of continuity in ForumID numbers is a result of the lag between the implementation of the updated Bungie.net in groups. The Flood was the last forum added before the groups were updated, which is why it has the highest "continuous" forumID of the public forums. It's also why the Marty Army (the first 7th Column group ever made) has forumID=11. Zanzibar and Optimatch were created long after groups were updated, which is why they have such high forumIDs compared to the other public forums.

Long, long ago on old Bungie.net, there was the Underground and the Septagon. There was also one later for recruiting for 7th Column chapters I believe, but it was a while back, and my memory is a little hazy. Perhaps there's a reason for this?...

Officium quod Fidelitas.

Actually the Septagon was the name of the forum in Chapter Founders, but since Chapter Founders lost said forum it's pretty much hit a wall. The original forums were the Underground, the Septagon and eventually the Maw.

Underground is the oldest, but it's nothing like today. Back then you could talk about anything related to Bungie in there. So of course the whole board was full of Halo topics.

A lot of the early chapters [and thus their forums] of course no longer exist - my Mongul Knights chapter used to have the ID of 3044, but after the hotness it was rather magically given the consolidated ID of 304. Nice how just enough chapters were deleted to remove just the last digit.

But the first group ever made was the Marty Army.

Back in the good old days of the Big 3

Also the good old days when only 3 forums were needed.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

Yes it was. NYC Bungie-Holics was Number 2, Bungie Sightings was number 3, Albaquerque Sucks was number 4, numbers 5 and 6 were deleted because of inactivity, and the seventh chapter was BayAreaHaloPlayingGroup. So now you know.
