nfs: underground 2

Racing games rarely get any sort of recognition when compared to FPSs and action adventure games. They might for their own respective genre, but rarely does it transcend that.

star wars: battle front

It's a shooter made for the PS2.

'nuff said.

madden '05

Same goes for sports games as does racing games.

prince of persa 2

A promising game, however, it suffers largely from a lack of multiplayer and a very linear story mode. It has very little replayability, which is a huge factor in deciding the game of the year.

resident evil 4

It looks decent.

Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, the development house founded by members of the Fallout, Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, Dark Alliance, and Planescape: Torment teams

I don't recall anything "good" being made by Obsidian. Here's hoping they can pull it off.

It's a hybrid. It's an adventure game at heart, with evolving character statistics making up for the rpg portion.

As for the PS2 thing, you misunderstand. When games are made for the PS2 they are dumbed down so that, when on the PS2 port, it's able to run. You will never see huge environments such as those to be found in Halo 2 on a PS2 game. If Halo released on both the PS2 and Xbox you'd see a much smaller version of it.

And, since Star Wars: Battlefront IS a war game, a sense of scale and scope are very important. You can't have a 'famous battle' from the movies going on if you're very limited on the number of friendlies you can have.

No, I'm saying PS2 is the basis when a game is released for all 3 consoles. I'm saying they have to start with the PS2's specs then work their way up.

not once in that whole sentence did I see that he said PS2 was better then Xbox. He did say, however, that games come out for the PS2 before any other system. <--- I don't believe that's true...

No he didn't. He said that the PS2 capabilities need to be taken into account first, not that games "come out" for the ps2 first.

No.

Should I?

If so, present your argument. You've done nothing but toss out marginal one-liners in this discussion, and that hardly qualifies as supporting your position.

I've read it. If you kept up on game development you would understand what that actually says. It doesn't say "Fable isn't a good game", rather, it says "Fable is awesome, but it's not so perfectly revolutionary as it would have been had all the features made it into the game."

Monyleux recently released a statement on this subject. A lot of the problem was the power of the Xbox. The Xbox simply didn't offer the tools he needed to perform what he could have.

The reviews all agree - it's a spectacular game. However, it's not as revolutionary as was envisioned.

If that is what your basing Fable off of, you should go read the 12 page article. That one I've already read, and he was biased towards the game because Fable (in the stages of Project Ego) promised so many new ideas, which would take to long to incorporate into the game, since it has been almost as long of a wait as Halo2.

OOh, I see. Still arguing that point?

Take apart the game mechanics. It started as an RPG - however, as it began to take form it took a LOT of elements from Adventure games. That is why I say it's a hybrid.

Its classification is subjective, but I have my reasons for calling it an action adventure game, for instance, the combat. The combat is very free-form, hack-and-slash style. Your ability to hit isn't based off some sort of dex. rating as it is in actual RPGs.

And Flamechu don't criticize the game because it isn't KOTOR. KOTOR is an awesome game and I'm about to beat it. But don't dis Fable when you were probably to lazy to look up info. on it, or even read the review.
