I respect your opinion, I'm probably just going to disagree with it.

Is it just me, or did the old plasma sword look much more intimidating and scary than the new one? To me it now just looks like a bit of glass or plastic, not some burning 100000˚C blade.

And the old plasma rifle sounded way better too.

I think that the halo1 sword looked a little crappy, it had this horrible glow of blue that made it almost impossible to make out the actual thing... I like halo2s skinny sword with the cool look of plasma going through it =) "eh, hes got a blade!" *dice dice dice dice* I like it how the ai's identify them in halo2.

Dude, the blue thing is what scared you lol. The first time I played halo when it came out and saw the gold elite jump me I was like "OMG ITS GOING TO EAT ME". Then I cried cause I couldnt use the sword LMAO.

It makes more sence for it to be smaller and more defined. It shows improvement in Coventant technology, more compact and better control of the plasma.

Yeah, I can see where this is coming from... hang on - comprimise. Halo 2 E3 sword! Now that was sweet... fuzzy AND defined too =D Ill admit, the fuzzyness of the old sword was a bit excessive, but it radiated power and looked generally nastier.

The REAL Master Chief

I agree

I agree the original sword looked much more dangerous. The newer one looks sort of plasticky.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

well you can thank the different graphics for that two..

I dont think it looked much like plastic, but its still not as good as Halo. I think it needs a little fuzzyness and to be a little brighter.

The energy sword from Halo is the best thinb since friendly-sliced covies.

Not up close when its burning through your face. Do you guys think that the covenant use them in their kitchens? It would be so cool to slice cheese with a stick of light! Maybe in halflife2 people use the gravity gun to get things out of the fridge when they're on the couch watching tv... "its the high-tech way to eat!" ok I'll stop now. But just imagine it... that would be awesome!

"While you set it and forget it! Why not use this handy dandy plasma sword!?"
"It can fillet, dice, slice and cut up your enemies!"
"You can buy the plasma sword for only 5 easy payments of $250!"

One thing I never got was why the spec-op elites have to always keep the sword lit up... I mean they are already invisible - so why not just keep it hidden until they can sneak up on their enemy?

maybe the fact that in halo 1 you didn't get a close up view of the sword and in halo 2 you do. Could affect why the swords look so much different.

i agree with the first guy.

hey a funny story real quick, when i was playing that level with the bridge and the golden elite with the sword (AoTCR i think) i made up a plan of how i could own the elite, cuz i knew he ran fast and could get me one hit. I went to where he was, then i looked at him and threw a plasma nade at him and he jumped like a mile at me and it went through his legs and he slashed the S-H-I-T out of me. he owned me so bad i didnt even have time to move...

Halo 3 (31st), ODST (14th) and Reach (4th) Mythic Conqueror. (Mythic is Solo, Legendary, All skulls on + scoring on and no deaths/saves).

Ignorance is the true enemy of all things.

Rocking Bungie.net for over 8 years!

The sword was changed mostly for performance reasons i would guess. I Halo 1 you were always a few feet away from one. But in Halo 2 you could have one right in from of your face (when you hold it) so it would take quite a bit of power to render the required particles.

and then, when you have 4 player split-screen all with plasma swords and 12 other players running around with them, yeah, framerate.

Its still was, and is scary in both games.
