I don't know if Halo: Anniversary is going to have the Firefight option (I heard that it was) but anyways I have an idea for what could be done:
Why not add the option to play as Covenant instead of UNSC?
Yes, I know you can already play as Elites in a certain Firefight gametype on Halo: Reach but hear me out on this.
Instead of having to fight waves of Covenant you play as an Elite and have to fight waves of UNSC which includes: Marines, Army, ODST's and Spartan III's and II's.
Instead of Phantoms/Spirits deploying soldiers there's Pelican's which also have the ability to deploy a Warthog or Scorpion tank and on certain levels (like Holdout) instead of a Banshee flying in there could be either a Hornet or a Falcon.
Okay, so here's how it would generally work:
WAVE 1:Marines.
WAVE 2:Army + ODST's
WAVE 3:ODST's + Marines
WAVE 4:Spartan III's + Army
WAVE 5:Spartan II's
Now I bet you're thinking "Spartan III's AND II's?"
Well, yes and here's why: Spartan III's, whilst having the larger numbers, have weaker shields than the Spartan II's ever did so I think it would be better to put the Spartan II's at the end instead of the Elite/Brute Generals/Chieftains.
"Aren't the Marines and the Army the same thing?"
Generally yes they are just with a different uniform and possibley different training.
But that technically goes for the same as Grunts. They wear different uniform and obviously have different training when it comes to using heavy weapons or not (eg Fuel Rod Gun).
"But won't the starting loadouts be a bit overkill for an Elite and fairly easy to get kills?"
It'll be no different from Halo: Reach's standard loadouts depending on what gametype you select.
As with the past Firefight games the weapons that your enemies carry will be different so your weapon will vary as well. Which is normally why you're encouraged to swap weapons from time-to-time.
Anyways, what do you guys think of this?
If it will ever become an option in any future Halo games would you play this particular version of Firefight?
If not/so, why?
