Very few people read Inside Bungie. We intelligent folk who actually care do. The ones who read it are probably mature enough to handle the "bad words". 95% of these forumgoers aren't because they abuse such words. They stay here where everything is controlled and there is no possibility of abuse.

Abuse was a good game.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Straight from the Code Of Conduct Short Version. "Bungie controls everything. You have no rights. Play nice." That should sum up why Bungie can skirt the Blam filter if they want to. It is their sight and they can do whatever they want.

If it were taken away completely, Zanzibar would be hell.

Seriously, there's already 'blams' everywhere, what do you think it would be like without the filter?

Technically, this probably belongs in the Septagon as it is site and community related.

I'm sure the Moderators will make sure it's in the right place so stop posting suggestions because I don't care.

On a more related note I realize that Bungie can do whatever they want with their site but they really have no reason to filter what we say when they turn around and do the things they won't let us do. Do they do it to prevent 8 year olds from learning the 'really bad words'? Obviously not. I guess they want to be the ones to take credit for the population aged 10 and under knowing every word in the book.

This goes in the Flood... wow funny normally I scream at people to get out of the flood, the one time i'm here I'm telling you to get in there

I'm very tempted to start blacklisting every time someone incorrectly points someone else to the Flood.

I used agree with the Blam filter most of the time until I saw this. You guys (Bungie) should be following the rules you set elsewhere in the site if you expect us to do the same. For example, in the staff section where you can look at pictures people find on the net and read an obviously real biography for everyone that works at Bungie, you know the place, there are violations to the blam filter. Read the bio of Vic DeLeon if you don't believe me for one of the more creative examples.

Before you start calling me a little pussey that can't handle the S-H-word, I'm only making a point. Now that I've seen this (and graduated high school) I don't think the filter should be active at all. I know there is no hope of it being taken away but you Halo 3 makers (oops, did I really type that) I meant Bungie-folk should at least follow the rules we are forced to follow and not make up words like $hit-storm (take that blam filter).

Until there is a massive maturity leap in the typical member, tools such as the profanity filter will remain to make sure that people play nice.

meh.. like the maturity lvl will ever go up..

I understand that employees are exempt. That is not what I'm arguing against. What I dissagree with is the fact that we can't cuss without risking a blacklisting but, look at the bios and the only thing missing is -blam!-. At least set a good example Bungie-folk and don't use language you won't let us use.

I see what you mean Recon about the lack of maturity and I am the first to admit that I have been known to dodge the blam filter (see above) but I also know that I would not be offended by another forum post no matter how full it was of bad laguage. The only way to really get at someone is on the personal level so no matter how many times I tell you I -blam!- your mom, you aren't going to go cry about it. Its the stuff like the fact you wet your bed until the age of 19 that will get you and almost no one will know that. And even if they did know it, would you believe something you read about some random person's life on the Bungie forums? No.

This leads to the flaw in the system. The only thing that would result from a lack of the filter would be a few idiots that filled entire pages with the F-word.
This might anger a few people but the offenders could be blacklisted. I realize this isn't a perfect plan but it's a start and it could be planned out before it goes into effect.

The way I'm talking, you'd think I had authority here. hehe.....yeah right.

The -blam!- filter makes the forums a more civilized place (somewhat). Take away the filter, and you may as well get rid of Zanzibar and Optimatch. Also, not everyone holds the same cursing standards as you. Many people actually come here for some nice discussion (although it's somewhat rare in the main forums), and may be offended by the potential amount of cursing. Wouldn't it be easier to just not curse at all? Why make Achronos have to remove something that he originally put in? Getting rid of the filter would probably do a lot more worse, than it would do good.

Another reason why to keep the filter. Even if a person makes an irrelevant post, there's much more ethical ways to tell someone off.

I guess what i am saying is this: the blam filter is pointless for two reasons.

1) It turns the employees of Bungie into hypocrites

2) It's way too easy to dodge making it a pile of $hit.
